On September 15, 2021, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) confiscated nearly 3,000 kg of heroin from Afghanistan at the Mundra Port, owned by Gautam Adani.
Recently, Sanjay Singh, the spokesperson for the Aam Aadmi Party, taking a dig at PM Modi stated that a 20,000 crore heroin was discovered at the Mundra port. The heroin was shipped from the Taliban. However, he claimed, that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken no action against it.
Is ED and CBI really not doing anything regarding this matter? Lets find the truth.

In the start of the research, with the keyword search we came across a few media reports. In September, 2021, the DRI confiscated a total of 2,988.21 kg of Afghan heroin from two container at the Mundra port.
Following the seizure of the drugs, the DRI investigated various sites in Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, Delhi, Chennai, Gandhidham, and Mandvi, and the Chennai-based couples, Govindaraju Durgapurn Vaishali and her spouse Machhavaram Sudhakar, were arrested. They were reportedly importing drugs through Aashi Trading Company. The involvement of terror links from Afghanistan were also investigated.
DRI filed the case under the NDPS Act on September 13, 2021, and NIA re-registered it on October 06, 2021. Because the case involves terror links, the NIA is handling it right now.
Furthermore, we visited the NIA website to get more details and to know what actions they have taken so far. With the keyword “Mundra” came across a few press releases.
According to the press release dated October 9, 2021, the NIA conducted searches at the premises of the accused/suspects engaged in Chennai, Coimbatore, and Vijaywada. Various items and papers were seized during the investigation.
Besides, as per another press release dated December 12, 2021, the NIA had arrested seven accused in this case. Furthermore, the NIA subsequently arrested a 28-year-old Afghan national named Sobhan Aryanfar for his involvement. He was charged under several provisions of the IPC.
Next, the NIA submits a charge sheet against the 16 new suspects in this case on March 14, 2022. However, the six suspects were in the wanted list. As a result, on March 14, the names of ten suspects were charge sheeted. Six of the ten were Afghan nationals.
Later, on August 29, 2022, the NIA submits a supplementary charge sheet against the members of International drugs smuggling network group who exported heroin from Afghanistan to distribute in different Indian states like Punjab, Delhi, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh. The four of the nine accused were from Afghanistan.
Moreover, the case saw the development a month after NIA submitted the supplementary chargesheet. Three more accused; Rah Matullah, a permanent resident of Afghanistan, Ishwinder Singh and Jasbir Singh were arrested. The press release reveals that Ishwinder was in touch with the Afghan based Javed, a key aide of Hassan Daad. Hassan along with his brother Hussain is running this whole drug trafficking.
In the recent development, the NIA filed the 2nd supplementary chargesheet against the 22 accused on February 20, 2023. The name of the accused are as follows:
It was also found that the funds generated through the sale proceeds of heroin were provided to operatives of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) for furtherance of terrorist activities in India.
The claim that no action has been taken regarding this matter is fake. The investigation is not being hampered in any way. The NIA filed the second supplementary chargesheet last month and has arrested many accused so far, including Afghan citizens. It has also investigated LeT terror links, and further investigation is underway.
Sanjay Singh is making all of these claims in order to attack PM Modi and Gautam Adani. He is attempting to portray that because the issue is related to Mundra port, which is owned by Adani, no action is being done. The Adani group has already given clarification on this issue in 2021.
