Rahul Gandhi, who has been making news in recent months for his Bharat Jodo Yatra, has once again become a subject of discussion. Rahul visited Cambridge University after the Bharat Jodo Yatra concluded to give a lecture. There he made several accusations against the BJP, claiming that the government was spying on him. Furthermore, he accused the government of controlling the media and courts, attacking minorities and suppressing criticism.
Moreover, the Congress Twitter account posted a video footage of Rahul Gandhi from his speech in Hounslow, London. In the video, he is heard claiming that Indian political leaders are not allowed to deliver lectures at Indian universities. The governing government forbids any discussion of opposition ideas.

In the start of our research, we did the keyword search “interaction with students” on the Twitter account of Rahul Gandhi. With the keyword search, we came across a few tweets of Rahul Gandhi. The tweets contradicts and debunk his claim at Hounslow.
According to one of his tweet from 2015, Rahul Gandhi has visited Mount Caramel College. This was a year after the BJP came in power.
As per The Indian Panorama report dated November 27, 2015, Rahul had addressed a gathering of 2,000 students at Mount Caramel college in Bengaluru. While addressing the students, under the guise of his political goal, he talked about PM Modi’s initiative Swatch Bharat and Make in India.
He asked the students if these two projects were working. Making a mockery of himself, he received “yes” in response from the majority of students.
Following his fiasco at Mount Caramel college, Rahul Gandhi visited JNU and NMIMS in 2016. After the arrest of the JNU student, Kanhaiya Lal, JNU witnessed a massive protest. Kanhaiya was arrested for sedition for supporting terrorist Afzal Guru.
According to the Times of India, the then-congress vice president visited JNU to speak with students. He backed the students who were supporting a convicted terrorist. He also attacked the ruling government, claiming that Kanhaiya was arrested and labelled anti-national simply for expressing his opinion
Rahul, who went to JNU with a political motive, is now accusing the government of not allowing them voice out their ideas or opinions in college or universities.
Prior to JNU, he had visited NMIMS in January, 2016, to interact with students. As per the mid-day story, Rahul addressed a broad variety of issues while condemning the Modi government and accusing them of neglecting farmers and agriculture during his lecture at NMIMS.
But, like Mount Caramel, he didn’t make much of an impact. The majority of NMIMS students were dissatisfied with him.
Later, as part of his electoral campaign in 2019, Rahul visited Stella Marris College in Madras. Rahul was questioned for not following the model code of conduct.
Rahul Gandhi visited all of the colleges mentioned above after the BJP came in power. He was freely criticising and questioning the Modi government during his talk in these universities. It’s a disgrace that Rahul Gandhi is openly lying on a international stage to show India in a negative light.
