IAF helicopter made and emergency landing in Muzaffarpur
Several districts in Bihar are grappling with severe flooding due to a significant rise in the water levels of rivers like the Kosi. On Wednesday, an Air Force helicopter made an emergency landing in flood-affected Muzaffarpur during relief distribution. However, users on social media are claiming that the helicopter crashed in the water and people rushed in to loot the relief materials and fled with them.
Handle Sam Khan on X, wrote, “Forget Israel for a moment. People in Bihar looted the Indian Army Helicopter which crashed during relief operations.”
First Bihar Jharkhand wrote, “After the helicopter crash in Muzaffarpur, there was a race to loot the relief material, villagers loaded the relief material on boats and ran away with it.”

In our fact check, we came across a report by the Times of India. According to the report, an IAF helicopter made an emergency landing in the Aurai block of Muzaffarpur after its engine developed a technical snag. The helicopter was returning after distributing relief materials in Darbhanga.
According to a report by the Hindustan Times, all occupants of IAF personnel were rescued by locals by the time officials arrived at the scene. All four occupants appear to be safe and unharmed.
A video shared by Webdunia on YouTube shows people retrieving relief items from inside the stranded helicopter and transferring them to a boat.
The claim that the helicopter crashed in a flood-affected area in Muzaffarpur and that the relief items were looted by people is misleading. The occupants of the IAF were rescued by locals after the helicopter made an emergency landing due to engine failure, who also retrieved the relief materials.
