Fact Check
At the beginning of our fact-check investigation, we extracted keyframes from the viral video and conducted a reverse image search. During this process, we found a similar video that was shared by a Pakistani user on January 11, 2025. The caption of this video stated that it was from an accident at Ambiri Kalla Chowk.
This same video was also shared by other Pakistani users on Facebook.

Further research led us to YouTube, where we searched for keywords related to this accident. We found a video on the ETV 247 Urdu YouTube channel. In this video, we observed visuals that closely matched those in the viral video. The video was titled “Unbelievable Traffic Incident At Indus Highway.”
At the 8-minute mark, we found the exact same keyframe of the accident that appears in the viral video. This confirms that the video is from Pakistan and has no connection to the Maha Kumbh in India.

Additionally, we found a media report stating that on January 11, 2025, at Ambiri Kalla Chowk on the Indus Highway in Pakistan’s Karak district, a truck’s brakes failed, leading to a collision with multiple vehicles. This accident resulted in 12 deaths and 25 injuries.

In conclusion, the video of the accident at Ambiri Kalla Chowk in Pakistan is being falsely shared as a stampede at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. It is important to note that the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj began on January 13, 2025, whereas this accident occurred on the Indus Highway two days earlier.
