A heartbreaking video of a young boy wailing and crying for his sisters, who purportedly killed during Israel’s siege of Gaza, is circulating on social media. The X user going by the username @/bhagalsanju (Archived link) shared the video and wrote, “A little boy in #Gaza grieving for his sisters sees no distinction between an #Israeli soldier and a Western journalist spewing #Zionist propaganda. One murders with a rifle, while the other murders with a pen.” The same video along with the same claim was shared by the accounts, Taliban Public Relations Department (Archived link) and Mian Haroon (Archived link).
We extracted different keyframes from the video and ran a reverse image search. The reverse image search of the video keyframes led us to the same video shared on a YouTube channel in 2014. According to the video’s description, the video shows a Syrian boy grieving for the murder of his sisters. The fact that the video is decade old proves that it has nothing to do with the current Israel-Hamas War.
We also discovered an extended version of the video released by Aleppo Media Centre to YouTube on February 14, 2014. According to the video’s Arabic title, the video depicts a boy sobbing for his brothers who were murdered in a helicopter bombardment in the Masaken Hanano district of Aleppo, Syria.
