Two year old video
One week has elapsed since the Hamas terrorist group committed the heinous act of abducting infants from their mothers’ embrace and inflicting violence upon them. However, as this week has transpired, the Israeli Defense Forces have responded with high-precision strikes, resulting in the elimination of over a thousand Hamas militants. With limited options at their disposal, Hamas has resorted to employing innocent Palestinian children as human shields, adopting a tactic of victimization.
Moreover, to solicit international intervention and sympathy, Hamas is disseminating outdated and manipulated footage portraying the suffering of Palestinians. In line with this narrative, a widely circulated video features a young girl recounting harrowing tales of war, with the wreckage of buildings behind her serving as a stark reminder of the collateral damage wrought by the conflict.
The girl in the video is saying, “ What do you expect me to do? Fix it? I’m only 10. I can’t even deal with this anymore. I just want to be a doctor or anything to help my people, but I can’t. I’m just a kid. I don’t even know what to do. I’m scared, but not really that much. I would do anything for my people, but I don’t know what to do. I’m just 10. All of this when I see it I literally cry every day.
She further added, “I said to myself, why do we deserve this? What did we do for this? My family said they just hate us. They just don’t like us because we are Muslims. Why do Muslims act for you like that? You see lots of kids around me. They’re just kids, why would you send missiles to them and kill them? It’s not fair.”
This 1-minute and 4-second clip is viral on the X.
X handle named Israel & Palestine War posted an excerpt from the girl’s soliloquy, “ What do you expect me to do, fix it? I’m only 10 years old. I can’t fix this, I am only a kid.”
Forsige Breaking News wrote, “ Why do they hate us Muslim? A 10-year-old Palestinian girl who aspires to become a doctor to help her people says.”
Hamas sympathizer N3RO news wrote, “ A 10-year-old Palestinian girl with big dreams of becoming a doctor sheds tears of hope.”
Along with these, there are many X users who posted the video of a 10-year-old girl. ( Archive Link1 and Archive Link 2)
However, it is crucial to conduct a thorough fact-check on this claim. Particularly in light of previous instances where sympathizers of Hamas have exploited infants and young children to advance their narrative. Given that half of Gaza’s population comprises children, there is a propensity to leverage these demographics to elicit global sympathy, with the ultimate aim of pressuring Israel into withdrawing.

Upon doing the reverse image search of the keyframe of the viral video, we found that the video was uploaded on a YouTube channel called, ‘ Middle East Eye’. The video was uploaded on 15 May 2021, which is nearly 2 years 5 months ago.

Moreover, we also found the report from Indian Express published on May 18, 2021. The report says, ‘A heartbreaking video of a 10-year-old Palestinian girl, narrating the situation around her, has gone viral on social media. Middle East Eye filmed the 1.19-minute video, showcasing young Nadine Abdel-Taif standing amid a pile of rubble in the aftermath of the Israeli airstrikes.’
To put things more into context, On May 10, 2021, a significant surge in violence within the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict erupted, although earlier disturbances had occurred. This unrest persisted until a ceasefire was implemented on May 21. The period was characterized by protests, law enforcement efforts to control riots, rocket attacks on Israel executed by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), and Israeli airstrikes targeting the Gaza Strip. The crisis was instigated on May 6, when residents of East Jerusalem initiated protests against the anticipated Supreme Court decision regarding the eviction of six Palestinian families from the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood.
Hence, it appears that the 10-year-old Palestinian girl was recounting the events following an IDF airstrike on Hamas terrorists, which resulted in debris in her vicinity. Nonetheless, our investigation has revealed that the viral video is over two years old, originating from a separate incident that transpired in 2021.
In conclusion, it’s truly disheartening to witness innocent Palestinians being exploited as pawns by the Hamas group. In the video, the girl conveys that her parents have conveyed to her that they are under fire due to their Muslim faith. It is unfortunate to observe the parents of this young girl instilling such beliefs from a very tender age, blurring the distinction between religion and terrorism. The situation is undeniably saddening!
