Viral video of a shooting is from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh—not Uttar Pradesh
A 12-second CCTV footage showing a man being shot dead in public by two assailants on a motorcycle is circulating on social media. The video is claimed to be recent and attributed to Uttar Pradesh.
Sharing the video, the handle Adv Deepak Babu wrote, “Uttar Pradesh has become fear-free; the goons have left Uttar Pradesh. This statement is by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath. This might be a film shooting; people are unnecessarily defaming CM Yogi.” (Archived link)

In our fact-check, we extracted keyframes from the video and performed a reverse image search, which led us to a November 10, 2024, NDTV report. The same video was featured in a report titled ‘On CCTV, Murder Convict Out On Parole Shot Dead In Madhya Pradesh.’
According to the report, this clip of a public shooting is not from Uttar Pradesh, but from Gwalior district in Madhya Pradesh. The incident occurred in November 2024, when Jaswant Singh Gill, a 45-year-old murder convict serving a life sentence for a 2016 murder case, was publicly shot dead by two assailants while out on parole. The assailants were identified as associates of Canada-based gangster Arshdeep Singh Dalla.
According to TOI report, both accused, Navjot Singh and Amalpreet Singh, were later arrested in Mohali, Punjab, and police revealed that the murder was carried out at the behest of pro-Khalistani terrorist Arshdeep Singh Dalla. The killing was part of an old family revenge and stemmed from a 2016 murder case in which Gill had killed his maternal uncle, Sukhwinder Singh. His maternal family was alleged to have sought revenge by giving a contract to Dalla.
In conclusion, the viral clip claiming to show a man shot dead in Uttar Pradesh is misleading. The incident occurred in November 2024, when Jaswant Singh Gill, a 45-year-old murder convict was shot dead in public
