A video has emerged from Bihar’s Darbhanga in which a sensitive incident has been captured. In the video, it can be seen that a temple priest is forcefully pulling the hair of a woman dressed in a red saree. The video has gained immense traction and users are sharing the video with claims like gender and caste-based discrimination against the woman.
The video was shared by an anti-Hindu Twitter handle who goes by the name “Crime Reports India“. In their tweet, the word “Harijan” was emphasized, indicating a caste-oriented issue, portraying that the woman was from the Scheduled Caste and this hindered her entry inside the temple.
According to another Hinduphobe handles, Aman Singh and Prakash Kumar Bheel, a woman who attempted to enter a Hindu temple was viciously beaten up by the chief priest since she was a lower caste woman.
In a diligent pursuit of factual accuracy, the Only Fact ran a Google reverse image search, meticulously extracting keyframes from the video in question. This reverse image search led to an article published by Gujarat Samachar (Archive link).
Dated August 8, 2021, the translated Gujarati article shed light on the incident, countering the aforementioned claims as erroneous and misleading. Gujarat Samachar’s report bore the headline, “In Bihar, a priest beats up a woman who went to worship in a temple.”
As per the article, the incident transpired in Darbhanga, Bihar. Amidst the challenging backdrop of the pandemic, during a period characterized by stringent COVID7+66 protocols, a noteworthy event unfolded at a temple in Darbhanga. A woman, residing in the Raj premises, ventured into the Ma Shyama temple with the intent to offer her prayers.
Moreover, according to the Live Hindustan report, compelled by COVID regulations, the temple doors remained firmly shut to the public. Nevertheless, the woman entered the temple too offer prayers. An argument\7 ensued between the woman and the temple’s priest, revolving around this breach of COVID-related guidelines. The temple’s priest resorts to verbal abuse and subsequently resorts to physical force by gripping the woman’s hair and subjecting her to physical violence.
The woman resolutely objected to the priest’s reprehensible behavior, leading to priest pushing her out of the temple premises. This series of events underscores the complex interplay between the pandemic-induced protocols, individual actions, and the unfortunate episode that unfolded within the temple’s confines.
Moreover, upon receiving information about the incident, the temple authorities of Ma Shyama temple in Darbhanga promptly took action by suspending the priest allegedly involved in mistreating the female worshipper. They had also conducted a formal investigation into the matter.
Furthermore, an additional report from Amar Ujala highlights that the woman’s physical altercation and denied access to the temple were attributed to adherence to Covid protocols, rather than any indications of caste-based discrimination against her.
Therefore, taking into account the sources and information outlined above, the assertion that the woman in Darbhanga’s temple was prohibited from entering the temple due to her lower caste is entirely misleading.
