On January 30, propaganda journalist Ahmed Khabeer of Jamia Times tweeted a video of a Kashmiri girl claiming that Sumaira, a Kashmiri Muslim girl, was cheated by a man from Bihar. She was forcibly converted to Hinduism by him. He married her and left her after impregnating her.
The girl in the video says that she did a love marriage. However, being a non-Muslim, she changed her name to Anjali Singh at the time of marriage in court and embraced Hinduism for her lover.

In the first step of research, we used the keyword search in Hindi and English. Further, we came across a few media reports.
As reported by New 18, a Kashmiri Muslim girl, Sumaira, and a man from Bihar, Lalu Singh, met on the social media platform Facebook. The two lovers later married in court. Sumaira, who loved Lalu to the point of madness, changed her name to Anjali Singh and converted to Hinduism.
But then things got even worse. Lalu lost his job, and his wife began working as a teacher at a private school. Due to a misunderstanding, he left Sumaira and went to his village. Later, the girl reached Begusarai, but the guy’s family refused to accept her. Then she tried to commit suicide and was hospitalized. After this point, the police intervened and facilitated a mutual reconciliation, saving their marriage.
However, the media report has made no mention of the word “forcefully converted.”
Besides, our team tried to get the full statement from the girl. On YouTube, our team came across a video by V2 Bihar via a keyword search. In the video, at 1:27, when asked if she was forcibly converted, Sumaira says that she converted willingly. Also, there was no pressure from any side. Whatever she did was her personal choice. Moreover, the couple looked happy and thanked the Modi government for abrogating Article 370.
At last we found another video on the V2 Bihar channel. In the video, at 11:20, the police make a statement that the girl told them that it was a family matter. The police also clarify that the allegations that her husband’s family tried to kill her with a poison are baseless.
Hence, after analyzing all the aspects, it is clear that the girl was not forcefully converted. Thus, the claim made by Ahmed Khabeer is misleading.
