Fact Check

During our investigation, we delved into the keyword “Annamalai” on Twitter and stumbled upon a video that unraveled the claims made by the Twitter user Dravidian. This video presented a different perspective, shedding new light on the contentious image. Contrary to Dravidian’s assertions, the woman who was seen gripping Annamalai’s shawl was not scolding him but rather extending a gesture of respect and admiration.

In the video, it becomes evident that the woman in question had approached Annamalai with a shawl in hand. With a warm smile on her face, she gracefully offered the shawl to him. To express her reverence, she then gently placed the shawl on Annamalai’s shoulders and then had a very little conversation with him. The brief yet powerful moment captured in the video completely contradicted the narrative put forth by Dravidian.

The turning point came at the 17-second mark of the video, where the exact scene that Dravidian had taken a screenshot of and shared on Twitter with false claims was revealed.

So, all these points prove that the claims made by Dravidian were not only false but also part of a calculated attempt to tarnish the image of Annamalai for political gain. By seizing upon a screenshot of the incident and manipulating its context, Dravidian sought to fuel controversy, sow doubt, and cast aspersions on Annamalai’s character.
