According to Middle East Eye Youtube channel, Moroccan player Jawad El Yamiq celebrates his team’s win over Canada and advancing to the knockout stages of the World Cup with a Palestinian flag.
Continuing our investigation, we delved deeper by conducting a keyword search, focusing on the phrase “Morocco’s Jawad El Yamiq celebrates win over Canada with Palestinian flag.”
Our search led us to a report by The Jewish Chronicle, which was published on December 12, 2022. The report included an image of the same individual who was seen waving the Palestinian flag in the viral video. According to this report, Moroccan football officials and fans had come under scrutiny for allegedly violating FIFA regulations by displaying Palestinian flags during the World Cup.
Television cameras captured a defining moment when Morocco’s defender, Jawad El Yamiq, waved a Palestinian flag following his team’s victory over Canada on December 1st.
