Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan’s movie Pathan was released in theaters on January 25, 2023. However, right after the release a video went viral on social media with the claim that a huge crowd turned up at Pentagon Mall in Haridwar, Uttarakhand to watch the film Pathan.

Moreover, the viral video has been shared on Twitter by Shah Rukh Khan’s supporters Mohammad Adil, and Sujoy Singh Rajput, among others.

On the other hand, another user Sahil Bhat claimed that the viral video is from the Bhagalpur district of Bihar.

The viral video shows a huge crowd inside the shopping mall. Moreover, a huge crowd can also be seen on the escalator inside the mall.

The same viral video was being told to be from different places, this raised doubts about the viral video. So we decided to investigate the video. Let’s Fact Check.

Fact Check

Starting the investigation, we first did a Google reverse search of the keyframes of the viral video. During this, we found a news report published by India Today on July 9, 2022. According to this news report, Lulu International Shopping Mall announced huge discounts and sales. The midnight sale was open to the public from midnight on July 6, 2022, until the morning of July 7, 2022. Thousands of people gathered to get a minimum 50% off on almost all the products. The escalator at the Kochi branch of the mall witnessed a huge rush of people. The video of the same incident later went viral on social media as well.

Similarly, we found the reports published by Asianet, Times Now, and Hindustan Times narrating the same developments. Apart from this, people had also posted on Twitter regarding this incident at the same time.

So, all these points prove that the viral video is more than six months old. Apart from this, the viral video is from Kerala’s Lulu Mall where people gathered for shopping during the discount. Thus, the viral video has nothing to do with the movie Pathan.
