On November 10, 2025, an explosion occurred near the public site, Red Fort, in Delhi. The explosion took place in a vehicle identified as a Hyundai i20, tragically killing 8 to 10 people, with some reports varying 10 to 12, and injuring 20 to 30 others. Nearby vehicles also caught fire due to the explosion. Security has been tightened across Delhi and, authorities have launched an investigation, invoking the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and exploring possible terror links. Meanwhile, a claim is going viral on social media alleging that the blast was caused by a CNG explosion and not a terror attack. This has been confirmed by Special CP Ravindra Yadav (Law and Order).

Propaganda account Team Saath official wrote, “It was a tragic CNG cylinder explosion, not a terror attack. The high casualty figure is because the blast happened in a crowded pick-up zone right outside Red Fort Metro Gate 1 during evening rush and resultant fire spread to nearby vehicles. As confirmed by Special CP Ravindra Yadav (Law & Order).” (Archived link)

Fact Check

In our fact check research, we first conducted a keyword search on Google to verify whether Special CP Ravindra Yadav had publicly confirmed a CNG cylinder blast. However, we did not find any media reports containing his statement, indicating that the claim is unfounded and he has not made any such remarks.

We also found that no senior Delhi police official has ruled out the explosion as a CNG blast. Initially, it was suspected that the blast could have been caused by a CNG cylinder since it occurred in a car, but there is no substantial evidence to back this claim as the investigation has found no typical signs of a simple CNG blast.

According to media reports, the authorities have registered the case under the UAPA and launched an investigation. During this process, the Delhi police detained the previous owner of the car in which the explosion occurred, Salman, as the related documents were still in his name and had not transferred to the next owner- Devender, then to Amir, and finally Dr. Umar Mohammad, who carried out the Red Fort blast. In the further development, the authorities are exploring the possible terror links.

Additionally, the PIB has deemed this claim fake and clarified that Special CP Ravindra Yadav has not made any such statement. In conclusion, the claim that the Special CP Ravindra Yadav publicly confirmed that the blast at the Red Fort was caused by a CNG explosion is fake. The investigation has not found any signs of CNG blast.
