Pro-Congress journalist Ranvijay Singh, shared a video of Union Minister Smriti Irani in which a woman identifying herself as a BJP worker can be seen telling Smriti Irani that she has three daughters and that there has been an increase in inflation, which also means an increase in LPG prices, and requesting her to lower the high prices of gas cylinders.

Quoting Ranvijay’s tweet, the alleged fact checker, Mohammed Zubair, wrote that after addressing this question, Smriti ji cited 200 crore free vaccines, and the woman who posed the question returned the mike while shouting Modi Sarkar Zindabad.

Fact Check

In our research, using the reverse image search, we found that the video shared by Ranvijay is from Smriti Irani’s recent speech at a rally event in Surendranagar.

Further, using the keyword “Smriti Irani speech in Surendranagar, Gujarat” our team found a video from a rally event shared by Gujarat Tak on its Twitter handle.

In the start of the video, a woman who is allegedly a BJP worker, posed a question in front of Smriti Irani about inflation and requested some respite in LPF costs for gas cylinders. In reply, Irani said, “Narendra bhai ne aapke prastaav se pahle hi vyavastha kardi ki pratyak gas cylinder ka jo Ujjwala Yojana ke antragat milta hai, pratyak gas cylinder ke liye 200 rupaye ki riyaayat kardi thi, saath hi diesel aur petrol ki keemat ko ghatane ke liye aur kisi rajya pe bhaar na bhade, isliye Narendra bhai ne apni hi sarkaar ke upar bhaar bana kar 1 lakh crore ki vyavasta apni sarkaar ki or se desh bhar ki behno ke liye kar chuke hai.”

Zubair’s claim is fake. In response to the question, Smriti Irani mentioned the Ujjwala Yojana initiative and how people benefitted from this scheme. Mohammed Zubair, who calls himself a fact checker, deliberately tweeted misinformation that might mislead people.
