On August 14, 2023, a Twitter user named Arshad Ismat Ali shared a disturbing viral video. The video depicted a heart-wrenching scene: a father (Shoaib) carrying his young daughter on his shoulders, was shot in the middle of a bustling street. Along with the video, Arshad Ismat Ali wrote, “Welcome to #ModiDisasterForIndia. This is India for Muslims in 2023. He further said that if the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) failed to take a stand against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), then there will be a Muslim genocide in India. He even used hashtags like #Muslims_Under_Attack_in_India, suggesting that Muslims are not safe in India anymore under the current government.
Apart from this, another Islamic propagandist, Ali Sohrab shared the same viral video and wrote, Shoaib, a 28-year-old Muslim youth, was carrying his daughter on his shoulder when an assailant came from behind and shot him openly in the head from point blank range in Shahjahanpur. However, he appeared to draw a narrative thread that hinted at communal lines. He tried to portray that the accused were non-muslims.
Apart from this, some other propagandists like Ahmed Khabeer And Crime Reports India also shared the viral video and made similar claims.
So, is it true that Shoaib was shot by Hindus or RSS workers? let’s Fact Check.

During our investigation, we first did keyword research with the words, “Man Carrying Daughter On His Shoulder Shot in Shahjahanpur.” During this, we stumbled upon a report by The Indian Express published on August 15, 2023. According to this report, a 30-year-old trader visiting his ancestral house in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur was shot at by some assailants when he was carrying his daughter on his shoulder in the Kotwali area on Sunday evening. The victim was identified as Shoaib.
Moreover, according to the report, Shahjahanpur Circle Officer BS Vir Kumar said the victim’s cousin Tariq, a local resident, is among the three assailants. During the preliminary probe, it came to light that Tariq and Shoaib had an old rivalry over a woman, Kumar added.
After this, we came across another report, this time by Amar Ujala published on August 15, 2023. The report shares the same visuals as in the viral video. According to this report, A named case has been registered against the accused who opened fire on Shoaib (30) in Mohalla Babujai. The enmity between them also became clear. According to family members, Shoaib’s wife Chandni’s marriage was earlier fixed with Tariq’s brother Mushran. Later, Chandni’s father refused to marry her and got her married to Shoaib. In this enmity, Tariq along with his cousin and friend carried out the murderous attack.
Next, we turned to the official Twitter account of Shahjahanpur Police, seeking the thread of authenticity. During this, we came across a tweet from August 14, 2023 where SP Shahjahanpur, Ashok Meena is giving a byte regarding the whole incident. According to SP Ashok, On august 13, 2023, Shoaib was shot by three unidentified person. However, Shahjahanpur police caught the two accused Gufran and Nadeem along with their pistols and the bike involved in the incident within 24 hours. The third accused Tariq is still on the run. Three teams have been formed to caught him.
Moreover, according to SP Ashok, Shoaib’s wife Chandni’s marriage was earlier fixed with Tariq’s brother Mushran. Later, Chandni’s father refused to marry her and got her married to Shoaib. In this enmity, Tariq along with his cousin and friend carried out this brutal attack on Shoaib.
Hence, all these points prove that Shoaib was not shot by RSS workers or Hindus, as initially suggested. Instead, he was shot by the members of his own community. The name of the accused are Tariq, Gufran, and Nadeem.
