Fact Check
In our fact check research, we found that the news report and the claims based on it are false, fabricated, and widely misinterpreted.
During our research, we found a report by IANS Live through a keyword search, which stated that Russia had dismissed the widely circulated news as fake. The report mentioned that this misinformation was initially spread by Pakistani media outlets such as The Express Tribune.

Further, according to Akashvani news report, this fake news stemmed from a May 13 meeting held in Islamabad between Haroon Akhtar Khan (Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan) and Russian representative Denis Nazaroof. Pakistani media portrayed this meeting in a way that suggested a multibillion-dollar contract had been signed to strengthen industrial and economic ties between Pakistan and Russia.
However, on May 30, official sources in Moscow denied that any such deal had been finalized. While Russian officials acknowledged that negotiations did take place, they clarified that the portrayal of a signed contract was completely fabricated. Moscow officials further emphasized that these fake reports were part of a deliberate attempt to damage the India-Russia strategic relationship.
In conclusion, the claim that Russia signed a mega deal with Pakistan amid India-Pakistan tensions is fake. This news was initially shared by Pakistani media following the May 13 negotiations between Russian and Pakistani officials, and was later amplified by opposition handles in India. However, official sources in Moscow have denied the news report stating that Russia has not signed a deal with Pakistan to set up a steel plant in Karachi.
