A picture of PM Modi is going viral on social media these days in which he is holding both hands side by side which seems like a hands position that Muslims make while offering Namaz (Muslim Prayer), while he is standing with a Muslim scholar.
Propaganda Twitter activist Ritu Rathore shared a picture of PM Modi on Twitter stating Modi ji learning namaz from his family member, which she later deleted.
Moreover, a Twitter handle with the name R Girinanthan shared the viral picture of PM Modi and wrote, “I told Narendra Modi is like GANDHI, now my words comes as true! Modi advised pray Namaz at Muslim’s conference recently held in Maharashtra,” he added.
Another Twitter handle with the name Raghu also shared the viral picture of PM Modi and wrote, “Modi in namaz mudra.”
Besides, Twitter handle with the name Sourabh shared the viral picture and wrote, “this is how namaz is read sir, now don’t try to act too much in front of the camera.”
Apart from this another Twitter user Madhu Purnima Kishwar shared the viral picture of PM Modi and wrote, “I love PM Modi’s ways to win hearts.”
So, is it true that PM Modi learned how to do Namaz from a Muslim Scholar to appease Muslims? Let’s Fact Check.

Fact Check
During our research, we first tried to find out where the viral picture is from. With the help of reverse image search, we found out that it’s from February 10, 2023, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a visit to the Dawoodi Bohra community as he was invited to inaugurate the campus of Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah Arabic Academy of the Dawoodi Bohra community in Mumbai.
Next, we tried to find out whether PM Modi offered Namaz at the campus of Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah Arabic Academy or not. During this, we came across another video of PM Modi with the Dawoodi Bohra community posted on Narendra Modi’s official Youtube channel on February 10, 2023. Meanwhile, the last minute of this video is shattering all of the claims above. From 50 minutes 26 seconds to 50 minutes 35 seconds time frame, you can see the Muslim scholar of the Bohra Community giving a string of beads (Mala) to PM Modi.
Moreover, here is the screenshot we took exactly at 50 minutes 27 seconds of the video where PM Modi is receiving the string of beads.
Also, here is the zoom version of the same screenshot where you can see the string of beads more clearly.
Furthermore, here is the screenshot we took at 50 minutes 28 seconds of the video where PM Modi made namaz like hand gesture although he was just going to touch the strings of beads with his forehead. This is the same screenshot that is being shared on social media with the claim that PM Modi is learning how to do namaz.
Besides, here is the another zoom version of the same screenshot which shows the string of beads in PM Modi’s hands.
Additionally, here are some other screenshots that we took from the above video between the 50 minutes 26 seconds to 50 minutes 35 seconds time frame which clearly show the string of beads in PM Modi’s hands.
Since PM Modi received the string of beads (Mala) offered by the Muslim Scholar with both hands and then touched it with his forehead as a sign of respect and honor, some people cleverly took a screenshot of the part where he was receiving the string of beads with both hands and then projected it as PM Modi is offering namaz. However, the above video and the screenshots shows that the reality is otherwise.
Hence, all these points prove that the claims of PM Modi offering Namaz are fake and misleading. PM Modi was not offering namaz or learning how to offer namaz. Besides, he was only receiving a string of beads from both of his hands from the Muslim scholar. Thus, the claims on social media regarding PM Modi’s viral picture are entirely fake and misleading.
