No, PM Modi did not ask to burn him alive if demonetisation fails

On October 21, 2022, KRG Reddy, the member of the BJP, in his tweet taking a jibe at the KRC wrote how long it will take KCR to repent for his corrupt policies and resign as Telangana Chief Minister.

Sathish Reddy, the TRS party’s social media convenor, quoting KRG Reddy, stated in his response, that PM Modi has asked to burn him alive in 50 days if demonetisation fails.

Fact Check

In our research, using the keyword “PM Modi asked to burn him alive“, we came across a video by India TV uploaded in 2016. After watching the video, we discovered that PM Modi used this statement during his speech in Goa.

Further, on the official channel of the Bharatiya Janata Party, we discovered a 1:03:08 mins long video of the Prime Minister’s address at the opening of several projects in Goa, which was released on November 13, 2016. In the video, from 26:16 mins onwards, PM Modi spoke about his battle against corruption and how his government is pursuing various measures to combat it. Later, from 40:49 mins, speaking on the Jan Dhan Yojna scheme, he said, “Hume malum tha mujhe kya karna hai. Humne Jan Dhan account khole. Jab main scheme leke aaya tha na, meri kaisi mazak hui thi parliament mein kaisi bhashan hui thi, aapko yaad hoga? Mujhe pata nahi kya kya kaha jata tha. Unko lag raha tha ki Modi ke baal noch lenge to Modi darr jayega. Arey Modi ko zinda jala doge, to bhi Modi darta nahi.”

Talking about the steps taken towards demonetisation, the PM appealed people to support demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, and from 5:06 mins he said, “Maine sirf desh se 50 din mange hai. 30 December tak mujhe mauka dijiye mere bhaiyo aur bahno. Agar 30 December ke baad koi meri kami reh jaye, koi meri galti nikal jaye, koi mera galat iraada nikal jaaye, aap jis chaurahe mein mujhe khada karenge, main khada ho kar ke, desh jo sazaa karega wo sazaa bhukat ne ke liye taiyaar hu.”

PM Modi never asked to be burned alive in his speech if demonetisation fails after 50 days. He spoke about how the opposition criticised him when his party introduced the Jan Dhan Yojna scheme and in the same context he stated that he is not frightened of anyone, even if he is burned alive.

The claim by Sathish Reddy that PM Modi asked to burn him alive in 50 days if demonetisation fails is fabricated.
