Fact Check

After delving into the matter, with the help of keyword search using “Nirmala Sitharaman compares Indian companies with lord Hanuman,” we came across a video of Sunilkant Munjal on YouTube, chairman of Hero Enterprise, speaking with FM Nirmala Sitharaman at the Hero Mindmine Summit on September 13, 2022.

In the video starting from 8 mins 49seconds onwards, speaking at the Mindmine Summit, the minister is heard saying “I would equally wanted to know why is that they(Indian companies) are hesitant (to invest). We will do everything to get the industry to come and invest here, but I want to hear from Indian Companies. What’s stopping you?”

Further, she added that countries and industries abroad think India is the place to be in now and it is reflected in FDI and FPI inflows and confidence in stock market investors.

“Is it like Hanuman? You don’t believe in your own capacity, in your own strength and there got to be someone standing next to you and say you are Hanuman, do it. Who is that person going to tell Hanuman? It certainly can’t be the government,” FM Nirmala Sitharaman added.

In response to her, the chairman of Hero Enterprise said that maybe that’s the role she has as well.

Foreign Minister Nirmala Sitharaman mentioned about Lord Hanuman in the context of one incident of the Ramayana, where Jambavan played a significant role in reminding Lord Hanuman’s abilities, which he had forgotten due to the curse placed upon him by the sage Matang. Later the sage Matang says that Hanuman will regain all of his powers if he is reminded of them.

Thus, in relation to the aforementioned Ramayana incident, FM Nirmala Sitharaman mentioned Lord Hanuman at the Mindmine Summit. In light of the aforementioned information, it is clear that Bolta Hindustan, a purveyor of false information, manipulated the infographic to deceive the public.
