No, Journalist Aditya Raj Kaul Was Not Arrested in Israel
During the ongoing Iran–Israel conflict, a claim has been circulating on social media alleging that Indian journalist Aditya Raj Kaul has been arrested by Israeli police. The posts claim that he revealed the location of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during an Iranian missile attack, after which he was allegedly taken into custody from a shelter. However, our investigation found that this claim is misleading.
Pragnay Gupta claimed ‘Reports claim Indian journalist Aditya Raj Kaul has been arrested by Israeli police after allegedly revealing the location of Benjamin Netanyahu during an Iranian missile atta@ck. He was reportedly detained from a shelter during the strike. According to circulating reports, this incident is believed to be Netanyahu’s last appearance in the media before the development.’
Jitesh Wrote ‘This is Huge. Sources say Aditya Raj Kaul aka Adityaulla Al khabri, a secret IRGC agent who revealed Netanyahu’s location on Live TV has been arrested by Israel Police. He will now be taken for interrogation. Sources say he was very close to Bibi.’
S surinder wrote ‘Journalist Aditya Raj Kaul, who revealed Netanyahu’s last public appearance, has just been arrested by Israeli police.’
The claim was also shared by Parody Jeff, Zarad si gana & AES alerte.
During the investigation, we conducted a Google search using relevant keywords but found no credible media reports confirming the arrest of NDTV journalist Aditya Raj Kaul in Israel. Further verification led us to Kaul’s official account on the social media platform X, where we found a ground report posted on 15 March, just a few hours earlier, from Israel. In the video, Kaul can be seen reporting on the security measures arranged for civilians during missile attacks in the country, indicating that he is actively reporting from the ground and has not been detained.
Meanwhile, Manish Jha, a journalist from TV9 Bharatvarsh who is currently reporting from Israel, also addressed the viral claim on X. In his post, he clarified that the reports about the arrest of Aditya Raj Kaul are false and misleading, adding that Kaul is with them.
Aditya Raj Kaul also addressed the viral claim through a post on his account on X. In his post, he dismissed the rumours and wrote that he was “enjoying Knafeh in Israel” while several paid Pakistani, Iranian and Indian fake accounts and trolls were misusing his news reportage videos to spread propaganda and disinformation. He also urged people not to believe everything they read on social media or WhatsApp without proper verification.
