We began checking the facts by looking at key images from the video that’s been spreading online. We found a video from April 2023 on YouTube, posted by V6 News Telugu. It shows Home Minister Amit Shah at a public gathering, where he says ‘If the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wins, they’ll stop what he calls the unfair reservation system for Muslims. He believes these reservation rights should go to Telangana’s SC/ST and OBC communities instead. So, they plan to end reservations for Muslims and give those rights to SC/ST and OBC.’
Additionally, we came across a news piece from the Deccan Herald dated April 23, 2023. The Deccan Herald wrote, ‘Home minister Amit Shah has announced that upon coming to power in Telangana, the BJP will end the Muslim reservations in the state. Shah made the statement on Sunday while addressing the party’s rally named Vijaya Sankalpa Sabha at Chevella, near Hyderabad, after arriving here from the election campaign in neighboring Karnataka.
