The advent of social media has simplified access to information, but at the same time, it has given birth to an unstoppable outrage factory. Some outrages lead to genuine changes, while others are illogically funny. From the song “Besharam Rang” to the “New Parliament theme color,” people just keep themselves busy with new outrage trends.
Recently, a Twitter user named Ritu Rathaur tweeted a photo of the new proposed parliament with the caption “New parliament in the glorious color green, The message is clear”. concluding that the new parliament is constructed on an Islamic theme.
What is the idea behind the theme color of the new parliament? Is the government using green to appease Muslims? Is it the first time such a color is being used in parliament and is it really green?

Our understanding based on graphics experience suggests that this is not green. So, at the start of our research, we consulted a graphics specialist, and he confirmed that this is a turquoise color, which is derived from the mixture of primary colors blue and green. Here are some turquoise color variations.
Here is the different gradation of Turquoise color from light to dark.
We compared the new Parliament visual with a turquoise color gradient, and it is very evident that the Parliament color theme is not at all green.
Further, we tried to get more information about the color theme of the Parliament. We visited the website of Central Vista, where GOI elaborated on the new Parliament color theme. It is based on the peacock, the national bird.
GOI further added that the Lok Sabha chamber is based on the national bird peacock, the Rajya Sabha chamber is based on the national flower lotus and the central lounge is based on the national tree Banyan.
Here is the color palette of the peacock which clearly resembles the theme color of the new parliament
So, there is clearly a huge difference between turquoise and green. However, the current parliament is based on a green color theme, which surprisingly doesn’t bother anyone.
Also green is not exclusive to Islamic culture, The color has religious significance over other major religions as well.
Thus, after analyzing all the facts, it’s clear that the theme of the new parliament is not a symbol of Islamic culture.
