Old Video of Two Men Apprehended in Alipurduar Falsely Linked to Murshidabad Violence

After the Waqf Amendment Act Bill was passed Rajya Sabha on April 4 2025, West Bengal’s Murshidabad witnessed a series of unrest. The protest, which began against the enacted Waqf Bill, escalated into violent clashes, arson, and vandalism. Members of the Muslim community are leading the protest against the bill, believing that its implementation would threaten their religious and property rights.

Although West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has assured that this law will not be implemented in the state, protest still intensified, particularly in Murshidabad.

Amidst the unrest, a video is going viral on social media in which a crowd is seen surrounding two individuals dressed in Muslim attire. It is being claimed that these two men, apprehended in Murshidabad, are actually Hindus from Bihar who allegedly entered the state disguised as Muslims with the intent to provoke unrest. Meanwhile, some handles have also claimed that these individuals were actually caught by local residents in Alipurduar amidst the violence in Murshidabad.
