Authorities recently carried out a large-scale demolition operation for a smart city project in Dahod, Gujarat, demolishing many structures there. Days after the demolition, Islamist propagandist Hindutva Watch, thriving on anti-Hindu narrative tweeted about the demolition, noting that the mosque had been vandalized during the demolition. They also added a link to the report in their tweet.
The propaganda peddler very cleverly kept the selective headline of the report which read, “Historic Mosque, 3 Dargahs among 8 cites demolished in Dahod.” What narration does the headline imply?
From the the readers’ perspective, the Hindutva Watch’s headline implies that in Gujarat, the religious sites belonging to the Muslim community are being destroyed in order to carry out development projects, while the religious sentiments of Muslims are being disregarded.

Along with Mosque and Dargahs, 4 Hindu temples were also demolished
The Dahod smart city administration in Gujarat demolished one of the eight places of worship on Saturday, including a mosque that was thought to be nearly a century old. Officials said the mosque was razed as part of the Smart City road widening project after the mosque trust failed to get relief from the Gujarat High Court or produce land record documents on Friday.
The massive demolition drive began at Nagina Masjid around 4.30 a.m. amid heavy police deployment. Apart from the Mosque, 4 ancient temples belonging to the Hindu community were also razed by the demolition authority. 3 Dargahs were also vandalized for the road widening project.
Hindutva Watch omitted temples from it’s headline
In contrast to Jagran, India Today, Indian Express, and Jansatta, the headline of the report by Hindutva Watch made no mention of the Hindu temples demolished by the authorities.
Instead, at the article’s conclusion, it was stated that the temples were also destroyed, which the readers who draw conclusion from the headline probably won’t bother reading.
The article shared by Hindutva Watch was outsourced from another propaganda portal Muslim Mirror. Just as the temple demolition part was omitted from the Hindutva Watch headline, the same was done in the latter to set out the narrative of Muslims under attack in India facing all discriminatory.
Hence, the headline of Hindutva Watch and Muslim Mirror is selective and misleading. Such headlines are more likely to provoke communal disharmony and disturb peace.
