On October 17, 2022, Deputy CM of Delhi Manish Sisodia was asked by the investigation agency to appear at the CBI office in a connection with the Delhi Excise Policy scam case. Sisodia was questioned for over 9 hours in connection with the scam. After his questioning, speaking to the media in the evening at his residence, he alleged that he was “pressured” to quit Aam Admi Party (AAP).
Deputy CM alleged that there is no issue of any scam (excise policy scam), the whole case is fake. The main motive behind the case is not to probe any scam, but to make “Operation Lotus” successful in Delhi. From 1 minute 32 seconds onwards, he claimed that he was asked to leave the AAP party and said he was offered to be made the Chief Minister.
Fact Check
Probing the claim further, we discovered the statement by CBI. As per the press release, the CBI refuted Manish Sisodia’s allegation and deemed it false by stating that some sections of the media had aired a video, in which, after leaving the CBI office, Sisodia had claimed that during his questioning he was threatened to leave the AAP party. The CBI further added that Sisodia was examined strictly based on the allegations in the FIR, and the evidence collected so far during the investigation.
Further, we found that according to the Indian Express report, CBI said that they will check the answers given by Sisodia, and if needed he can be summoned again later.
