We started our research by searching for Mohan Bhagwat’s speech on Sant Ravidas Jayanti on YouTube. We got access to his full speech in Marathi on the ABP Majha YouTube channel.

From 12:46 sec, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat says “Truth is God, he’s omnipresent. Whatever the name, ability & honor same; no differences. What some pandits say on basis of Shastras is lie. We’re misled by caste superiority illusion. Illusion has to be set aside.”

Moreover, Mohan Bhagwat did not mention the Brahmin caste; rather, he meant “scholars” or “experts.” Also, Pandits/Pundits is a globalized word, and it is extensively used by westerners as well. According to the Oxford Pundit, a person who knows a lot about a particular subject and often talks about it in public.

Besides, there is a book published by Dan Nimmo titled ‘The Political Pundit’ while Sky Sports refers to their match analysts as Football Pundits. And, it simply means scholar and has no connection with any caste group.

Also after 12 hours, ANI corrected their tweet with an exact transcript of Mohan Bhagwat’s speech, unlike other media portals.

Further, we found RSS’s all-India publicity head, Sunil Ambekar, clarifies Mohan Bhagwat’s statement. According to Ambekar, the RSS chief was saying, “God resides in all living beings. No one is high or low. On the basis of scriptures, scholars talk about caste-based highs and lows—they are lies.”

So, it’s clear that Mohan Bhagwant wasn’t blaming any caste group, and he sees everyone as equal. Moreover, his statement is about uniting the Hindu community. Some sections of the media lost the context due to bad translation.
