Fact-Checking the Southall Incident: Unraveling the Khalistani involvement in violence orchestrated on Independence Day

In the contemporary era of pervasive social media, crafting a narrative divorced from actual realities has become distressingly effortless. A mere amalgamation of influential social media profiles and manipulative troll accounts can orchestrate a deceptive storyline, regardless of its authenticity. Often, these malevolent accounts disseminate fabricated news, which subsequently garners traction through prominent profiles, eventually spiralling into an orchestrated cacophony. Regrettably, this stratagem has proven effective as like-minded media outlets perpetuate the narrative. A recent occurrence in Southall, London, coinciding with India’s Independence Day, encapsulates all the elements of a meticulously constructed false narrative.

A rabid Islamist jihadi Majid Freeman tweeted a video with the caption, “ Last year a Sikh man was attacked by a Hindu mob in Leicester. This year the Hindu far-right nationalists attacked Sikh men in Southall, in front of the police. According to AK Media47 (Instagram) 2 Sikh men were stabbed while Mobs chanted “Jai Shri Ram”. Listen to them screaming like hyenas. Exactly the same cowardly way they tried to attack the Sikh man last year on Melton Road & the Muslim youngsters too in Leicester. How many of these Hindutva attackers are here on student visas? Who is grooming and brainwashing the Hindu youth? Why are they trying to repeat how they attack minorities in India down here in the UK and also in Australia and other parts of the world? Solidarity with our Sikh brothers. Hope the lads who got injured have a fully swift recovery.”

Beneath all the jibber jabber Majid is basically saying that Hindus of London attacked Sikhs, in Southall. Individuals across social media platforms propagated the identical narrative.

A username Sengh wrote, “Hindu Migrants chanting Hindutva slogans opposite Sri Guru Singh Sabha Southall before the attack on Sikhs on Indian Independence Day Last year with Muslims and this year with Sikhs. Hindu mob organized by brahmins stabbes one sikh youth and severely injured another one.”

A username KimJongwins wrote in a similar vein, “ The RSS is exporting its hate ideology abroad. In Southall, Hindu fascists stabbed members of the Sikh community. The British government is apathetic on genocide of Muslims. Silent on the genocide of Christians. Do they support Hindutva? “

An online news agency, BOL News, with inclinations toward Islamist perspectives, disseminated this narrative in a manner consistent with the aforementioned discourse. The methodology mirrors the approach previously outlined. Bol news shared an article with headline, “Hindutva, Sikh supporters clash in London on India’s Independence Day”

For the unacquainted, Southall holds significance as a locality nestled in the heart of London, recognized for its vibrant Sikh community. Within this enclave, a rich tapestry of Sikh culture and tradition thrives. Yet, intertwined among this community lies a faction espousing the Khalistani ideology, advocating for the establishment of an autonomous Sikh state carved from India’s territorial expanse.

Given Southall’s status as a stronghold of Sikh heritage on English land, the idea of Hindus perpetrating attacks against Sikhs within this enclave appears incongruous. Therefore, an imperative exists to subject this news account to thorough scrutiny, ensuring an accurate representation of events that transpired in Southall, London on the 15th of August. This exercise becomes all the more pivotal as it endeavors to illuminate the truth for the global Hindu community, offering an unadulterated depiction of the incident.

We embarked on our quest for truth by looking at pertinent news articles related to this particular case. We stumbled upon the Times of India article. The Times of India reported that they formally accused an individual of Sikh descent, Gurpreet Singh, of possessing a knife and engaging in the stabbing of two men during the celebration of India’s Independence Day in Southall. Moreover, The Times of India (TOI) delved deeper into the profile of the individual at the center of the incident, Gurpreet Singh. As per the reports furnished, Gurpreet Singh, aged 25 and a resident of Ilford, made an appearance at Uxbridge magistrates’ court on the 17th of August. He faces multiple charges, including the intent to commit grievous bodily harm, engaging in disorderly conduct, wielding a bladed article as a threat, and possessing two bladed articles. As a result, authorities have detained him in custody, with a scheduled appearance at Isleworth Crown Court set for the 14th of September.

In contrast, law enforcement has granted police bail to the second apprehended individual, who is in his 20s, as they continue to unfold their inquiries.

Consequently, following meticulous coverage by The Times of India (TOI), the landscape has now been unequivocally illuminated. The findings underscore that elements with Khalistani inclinations within the Sikh community residing in London are linked to an assault against Hindus that transpired on the 15th of August.

The event presented by The Times of India (TOI) also detailed the unfolding of the violent incidents on the 15th of August. Video footage circulating on social media provides a glimpse into the initial festive ambiance of the evening, capturing a jubilant gathering of men and women of Indian origin (PIO) engrossed in the celebrations. Engaged in the spirit of celebration, they listen to “Jai Ho” resonating from loudspeakers, waving the tricolour with fervor.

Moreover, subsequent videos depict a scenario where young PIO men express their nationalistic enthusiasm by chanting “Hindustan Zindabad,” enshrouding themselves in the Indian flag, and rallying with “Jai Shree Ram” slogans along Southall Broadway. Their march proceeds past the local railway station and the adjacent gurdwara, adorned with an exterior depiction of Bhindranwale.

However, the situation took an unfortunate turn as videos portray the emergence of tension between a small group brandishing Khalistani flags and the larger crowd adorned with the tricolour. An Instagram video shared by “Southall’s Finest” captures the juxtaposition: a handful of individuals displaying yellow Khalistan flags in Devanagari script confronting a sizable assembly of young PIO men carrying the tricolour. Events escalated when those carrying the tricolour began pursuing one of the Khalistan flag holders. Law enforcement personnel became engaged, as seen in the video, with the police endeavoring to intervene as a group of men appears to assault one individual, amplifying the chaos on the scene.

In conjunction with the accounts provided by The Times of India (TOI), our attention was drawn to posts shared on reputable social media profiles.

Insight UK tweeted, “Southall Violence | Whilst Indians of all backgrounds (Hindu, Sikh, Muslim etc.) celebrated India Independence Day on 15th August, once again Khalistani extremists came out to disrupt the celebrations. Questions must be asked;

1. What place did the hostile anti-India Khalistani extremists have at Indian independence celebrations?

2. For what purpose were they there other than to cause disruption and trouble?

3. Why did the police allow Khalistani extremists to come near the celebrations knowing their hostile history of attacking the Indian diaspora. And the High Commission of India in London and around the world?

 4. Are people of Indian origin not allowed to celebrate their Independence without being attacked?

Sarah L. Gates, a doctoral scholar, took to Twitter to underscore a pertinent point using an array of photographs, showcasing the role played by Khalistani elements in the assault against Hindus on the occasion of Independence Day. She tweeted, “Khalistanis interrupt a group of Indians celebrating Independence Day in Southall, UK. Khalistanis can’t make up their mind if it’s a Sikh or Khalistani in custody, or it was 2, 3 or 4 Hindus stabbed. Although it’s the Hindus in hospital, anti-immigrant Hinduphobia is rampant.”

We will ultimately corroborate our findings through an official statement issued by the UK law enforcement authorities. Superintendent Sean Lynch, responsible for neighbourhood policing in Ealing, said in a press release “I recognise the enormous concern this incident will have caused, both in Southall and in the Sikh communities around London and further afield, in what was an otherwise largely peaceful and celebratory event.

Based on the extensive evidence presented earlier, a definitive narrative emerges: Khalistani constituents based in Southall were responsible for instigating an attack on Hindus participating in a commemorative march on India’s Independence Day. It is imperative to emphasize that the reverse scenario is unfounded. Additionally, it warrants mention that assertions made by Islamists against Sikhs and Hindus hold no substantive basis. In actuality, the altercation transpired between adherents of the Khalistani ideology and Hindu nationalists, as they converged to celebrate India’s journey to freedom.

Furthermore, beneath this fabricated scenario, a sinister manipulation unfolds wherein Islamists manipulate Sikhs aligned with the Khalistani movement to engage in conflict with Hindus. Subsequently, when clashes erupt between these two factions, the Islamists endeavor to legitimize their agenda. In the context of the recent incident in Southall, a retrospective analysis reveals the Islamists’ attempt to downplay the violence in Leicester, a scheme orchestrated by Islamists operating within the United Kingdom.
