Over the past eight days, the Mediterranean coastline has been the target of Israeli airstrikes, retaliating against the acts of terror committed by Hamas on Saturday. Amidst the warfare on the ground, social media has become inundated with viral posts. Among them, there is a recent video depicting the collapse of a building, along with claims that the Israeli Air Force launched rockets, leading to the destruction of the structure purportedly in Gaza.
X user Baba Banaras wrote, “Large numbers of Hamas terrorists horrified in recent Israeli Airforce Airstrikes in Gaza.”
Belal Nazir tweeted, “ The process of annihilating an entire people.”
Journalist Laura Loomer wrote on X, “HAMAS uploaded this video on their telegram channel that shows terrorist-filled towers in GAZA getting bombed by Israel. Good work, Israel! Don’t stop until HAMAS is completely destroyed. They are all crying on Telegram.”
Media agency, Holy Palestini reporting from Palestine tweeted, “ Video of the Israeli bombings today in the Gaza Strip.”
Another Palestinian media handle, Palestine Online tweeted, “ Israeli figure Jets targeted several residential towers with massive and heavy missiles in the Al Sudaniyyah area in Gaza.”

By conducting a reverse image search of a pivotal frame from the viral video, we have ascertained that the video in question indeed originates from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The footage captures a demolition process that happened in the city of Jeddah in 2022, conducted as part of a redevelopment initiative.
According to BBC, “Residents of districts recently razed to the ground for a multi-billion dollar development in the city of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia have complained that they did not receive adequate warning or compensation when their homes and neighbourhoods were demolished.”
The report further added, “The Saudi authorities defined the areas that cover a substantial slice of the older parts of Jeddah as slums – vilifying them as dens of crime and vice.”
Moreover, upon a thorough analysis of the video, it becomes evident that there are no signs of an airstrike from above. Instead, the building visibly crumbles from the base, strongly indicating that the viral video documents a controlled demolition rather than the aftermath of an airstrike.
Therefore, it can be affirmed that the viral video does not originate from Gaza, but rather from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
