A month ago, the Hamas militant group unleashed a wave of violence on Israeli civilians, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of unarmed men, women, and children. As the conflict between Israel and Hamas continues, the terrorist group has resorted to using women and children as human shields both on the battlefield and in their social media propaganda. In line with this strategy, a video depicting the strong-arm handling of a 12-year-old girl by Israeli officers has been gaining widespread attention on the internet.

Terrorist propaganda machine, Quds News Network tweeted, “ Footage taken yesterday shows a contingent of heavily armed Israeli police officers brutally assaulting a 12-year-old girl at the Bab Al Amud Plaza in occupied Jerusalem.”

Yeni Safak, a Hamas sympathizer media outlet, tweeted that ‘A group of heavily armed Israeli police officers were seen engaging in a brutal altercation with a 12-year-old girl. The incident Bab Al Amud Plaza in occupied Jerusalem.’

Palestine Online wrote, “ Video recorded yesterday depicts a group of heavily armed Israeli forces. They are savagely assaulting a 12-year-old Palestinian girl at Bab Al Amud Plaza in occupied Jerusalem.”

Rabid Islamist Mohd Noushib wrote on X, “ Shocking- she is just a child. This is occupied Jerusalem. Footage taken yesterday shows a contingent of heavily armed Israeli police officers brutally assaulting a 12-year-old girl at the Bab Al Amud Plaza in occupied Jerusalem.”

Core-Islamist Ali Sohrab wrote, “In footage taken yesterday, we can see heavily armed Israeli terrorists brutally attacking a 12-year-old girl in Jerusalem’s Bab Al Amud Plaza.”

Following a reverse image search of a keyframe from a viral video primarily shared by individuals with Islamist affiliations, our investigation unveiled that the video is over a year old, dating back to February 2022.

The video was initially disseminated on February 28, 2022, by the Palestine-based news agency, Palestina Hoy.

Palestina Hoy wrote, “ A 12-year-old Palestinian girl is brutally attacked by Israel in now occupied Jerusalem. Mainstream media doesn’t show this.”

Moreover, we also found the news article describing the whole incident that happened back in February 2022.

The Times of Israel reported on 28 February 2022 that police fired a sound grenade during clashes near Damascus Gate. The incident involved an 11-year-old Palestinian girl. She sustained a head injury as a result.

Furthermore, Police dispersed groups of Palestinians with stun grenades and blasts of acrid-smelling high-pressure water from cannons. Dozens of passersby, including women, children and a man in a wheelchair, fled for cover.

The report further said, “According to police, Palestinians had “chanted incitement and threw stones and bottles at police on the scene.” A spokesperson for Jerusalem police did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the wounded 11-year-old girl. “Police forces have acted these past few hours to protect public order and prevent rioting,” an Israel Police spokesperson said.”

Hence, a meticulous analysis employing two distinct media sources, one from the Palestinian perspective and the other from the Israeli standpoint, definitively establishes that the viral video is not recent; instead, it originates from approximately a year and a half ago. (Feb, 2022). Consequently, the assertions propagated by the Islamists on social media are inherently deceptive and misleading in nature.
