In our fact check investigation, we performed a reverse image search of the image and found a report by SabrangIndia dated January 8, 2021. Here we found the same image.

According to the report, the image is from a mass encounter of tribals that took place on January 2, 2006, in Kalinganagar, Odisha, protesting against forcible acquisition of their ancestors’ land for the construction of a Tata Steel plant. The villagers were demanding proper compensation and rightful land settlement under the law. According to one of the villager’s testimonies mentioned in the report, the security forces opened fire on unarmed protesters, resulting in the death of at least 13 villagers, including men, women, and children.
