Hindutva Watch, an account known for sharing false news and spreading hostility towards Hindus, was withheld from X in January 2024 following efforts by the Indian government to curb the spread of misinformation. Recently, X challenged the blocking order in the Delhi High Court, saying that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) did not provide sufficient justification for the action. Raqib Hameed Naik, founder of Hindutva Watch, challenged the order and filed a writ petition asking for a review of the findings by the review committee set up under the 2009 blocking rules.

In September 2023, a thread posted on X by Disinfo Lab revealed Hindutva Watch’s ties with Pakistan through several key connections. Hindutva Watch is primarily linked to Pakistan through Sardar Ali Kayani, who created a map for the site alleging persecution of Muslims in India. Kayani harbors anti-Hindu and anti-India sentiments and supports Nawaz Sharif led Pakistan Muslim League. He was also found to be affiliated with Global Village Space (GVS), which spreads anti-India narratives, and Two Circles.net (TCN), part of Pakistan’s “Op Tupac”, which aims to divide India. These ties reflect Hindutva Watch’s influence with narratives that undermine India’s unity.

Apart from this, Hindutva Watch was also found to have engaged in several instances of disseminating false news and manipulated media specifically targeting Hindus. The report highlights instances where edited videos were shared by Hindutva Watch, before the account was withheld in India, along with manipulated captions intended to disparage Hindus and tarnish India’s global image.

(Since Hindutva Watch’s account is withheld in India, the Only Fact team will continue to monitor the account and update the report as needed)
