Fact Check

During our investigation of the viral video, we found a report published on the ‘UP Tak‘ website. According to this report, UP Tak’s reporter Ashish Srivastava conducted an on-ground inquiry. He stated that the ISKCON kirtan group, which was seen chanting “Hare Rama-Hare Krishna” with drums and cymbals, was approximately 100 meters away from the Cathedral Church. When they spoke to a security guard of a nearby showroom, he confirmed that the chants were happening outside their showroom, which is about 100 meters from the church.

Upon analyzing the viral video, we observed the location where people were dancing had signs that read “Sindh” and “Raymond.” Across from this location was the “Royal Cafe.” A little further away, there was a large white building with some faintly visible text on it.

Using Google Maps, we confirmed that the location where the celebration took place is indeed in front of Royal Cafe. The large white building nearby was identified as the office of the “Divisional Railway Manager.”

Subsequently, we found a separate video showing the Cathedral Church during the Christmas celebration. In this video, a crowd could be seen gathered in front of the church, celebrating Christmas.

Notably, the Cathedral Church is located opposite a shop named “My Fair Travels,” as clearly visible in the video.

To verify the exact distance, we used Google Maps and calculated the distance between the Cathedral Church and Royal Cafe. The two locations are approximately 250 meters apart, separated by a traffic intersection.

Conclusion: The viral claim that the ISKCON group was chanting “Hare Rama-Hare Krishna” directly in front of the Cathedral Church is misleading. The video was filmed about 250 meters away from the church, in front of Royal Cafe.
