NMC Logo Clarification: No Ashoka Emblem Substitution, Minor Update Highlights Colored Depiction of God Dhanvantari from Black-and-White Version

Social media platforms have recently been inundated with reports suggesting a modification in the logo of the National Medical Associations by the Indian government. Allegations have surfaced, asserting that the central government replaced the Ashoka emblem with an image depicting the deity God Dhanvantari. In cases involving depictions of Hindu deities, it is anticipated that the Communist-Islamist coalition would generate considerable noise on social media. Correspondingly, a similar scenario unfolded on the X.

Members of the Communist Party of India, Thomas Issac tweeted, ‘Yesterday I tweeted about Kerala being threatened by Centre to change the name of ‘Family Health Centers’ to ‘Ayushman Arogya Mandirs’. Today worse news – National Medical Commission has replaced the Asoka emblem by the image of Hindu god Dhanvantari. Bigots of the first order!’

Leftist Fact-Checker and co-founder of Alt News Muhammad Zubair Retweeted the Thomas Issac tweet.

The Liver Doctor aka Dr. Cyriac Abby Philips, a propagandist working on the whims posted, ‘The National Medical Commision of India, the apex “scientific” body that regulates medical education and medical professionals has silently dropped the Ashoka State Emblem from it’s logo, replacing it with an image of the Hindu God Dhanvantari, the embodiment of pseudoscientific Ayurveda, thus signaling the shameless entry of India into the inner circle of pseudoscience Hell.

If the NMC Members in charge of this abomination has some shame, they’ll change the logo to a more secular one…one that does not embrace pseudoscientific beliefs, driven by religion and faith, but by science and rationality. Some shame at least.’

Essence Global, an atheist meet X handle based in Kerala also tweeted and condemned the move with the infographic image.

Mainstream media The Times of India also published an article with the headline, ‘NMC changes logo, adds image of ayurveda god’

In the process of fact-checking the viral claim regarding the alleged alteration of the National Medical Commission logo, a thorough examination revealed that the logo itself remains unchanged. The only modification identified pertains to the colouration of the image of the deity God Dhanvantari, a consistent feature in the National Medical Commission’s emblem. Earlier the image of God Dhanvantari was black and white, whereas in the new logo, the image is coloured. Contrary to speculations, the emblem never incorporated the national emblem. Furthermore, the adjustment extends to the replacement of the term “India” with “Bharat,” aligning with the constitutional declaration that underscores India as Bharat.

In essence, it becomes evident that the Government of India has not executed any substantive changes to the National Medical Commission’s logo, merely introducing a colour variation to the representation of God Dhanvantari and substituting “India” with “Bharat.” As per the Indian constitution’s articulation—India, that is Bharat—no fundamental alterations have been made to the emblem.

Dhanvantari, a revered figure in Hinduism, is hailed as the physician of the devas and is considered an incarnation of Vishnu. Described in the Puranas as the god of Ayurveda, the association of this divine entity with the National Medical Commission’s emblem remains a consistent and longstanding feature.
