Fake News of Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh Being Manhandled During PM Modi’s Meeting Spread by Pakistani Handles

After the tragic Pahalgam attack on 22 April 2025 in which 26 tourists lost their lives, relations between India and Pakistan have become extremely strained. On 7 May, India launched “Operation Sindoor” to counter Pakistan’s support for cross-border terrorism, targeting 9 terrorist camps within Pakistan. The attacks resulted in significant casualties on both sides. On 10 May, the matter de-escalated after talks between the two countries but Pakistan called off the ceasefire. Just hours after the incident, Pakistani troops opened unprovoked firing along the LoC in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch. The Indian Army retaliated immediately, resulting in heavy casualties on the Pakistani side. The on-ground situation remains tense on both sides, with tensions continuing to escalate. Meanwhile, a video of a Pakistani media Suno News is going viral on X where it is being alleged that the Indian Air Chief Marshal was manhandled by one of his officers during a debriefing session regarding the failures of Operation Sindoor.

Sharing the video, the handle Umair Abduallah wrote “News is the Indian Air Chief Marshall has been manhandled by his officer in a debriefing session of Operation Sindoor Failures.” (Archived link)

Another handle Safdar Leghari asserted, “The humiliation of defeat by Pakistan cut so deep that Indian Air Force officers turned their fury on their own Air Chief.” (Archived link)

Hiba Bukhari claimed, “India is about to collapse. Following the downing of Rafale fighter jets by PAF, significant unrest reportedly erupted within ranks of IAF. The internal dissent culminated in a physical altercation, wherein four IAF officers allegedly assaulted Indian Air Chief Amar Pareet Singh, assuming Amar Preet Singh, reflecting a grave breakdown in command cohesion and morale in the aftermath of the operational failure.” (Archived link)

Bleed Green stated, “Security detail of IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh has immediately been increased after 4 Hindu pilots, all from Golden Arrow Squadron of Rafales, beat him after heated argument in IAF Headquarters during the debriefing session of Operation Sindoor.” (Archived link)

Fact Check

In our fact-check research regarding the alleged assault on Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh, we conducted a keyword search but found only one report from Suno News. Apart from this, no credible media outlet has reported or confirmed that the Air Marshal was assaulted during a debriefing session related to Operation Sindoor.

This makes it evident that the claim about Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh being manhandled by his officers is fake. Previously, a similar fake news was circulated, falsely claiming that he had been sacked by the Indian government. After the Pahalgam attack, Pakistan has actively engaged in a propaganda campaign, spreading multiple false rumors on social media about India’s high-ranking officers in an attempt to create a narrative that there is internal conflict within the Indian armed forces.

Contrary to the false narrative, Operation Sindoor was a successful military operation carried out by India following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack. Launched on May 7, 2025, the operation aimed to eliminate terrorist infrastructure within Pakistan.

The Indian Air Force targeted nine locations, including the Jaish-e-Mohammed headquarters in Bahawalpur and the Lashkar-e-Taiba training facility in Muridke, using Rafale jets equipped with SCALP cruise missiles and AASM Hammer bombs.

According to a Hindustan Times report, more than 100 terrorists were killed in the operation. Important targets killed included Yusuf Azhar, a senior Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist and Masood Azhar’s brother-in-law, who played a key role in the IC-814 hijacking in 1999.

Another target was Abdul Malik Rauf, a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander and a UN-designated global terrorist who was involved in planning and supporting several attacks, including the Pulwama bombing. Mudasir Ahmad, who was involved in Pulwama, was also killed in the operation. Abdul Rauf Azhar, Masood Azhar’s brother, was also killed in the operation. Reportedly, 10 members of Masood Azhar’s family were also killed in the military attacks.

The key outcome of the operation enhanced India’s military capabilities and demonstrated its strategic influence in modern warfare. Notably, India’s air defence systems, including the indigenous Akash missile system and the Sudarshan Chakra, successfully neutralized incoming threats such as drones and missiles launched by Pakistan

Following the success of Operation Sindoor, on May 12, 2025, PM Modi chaired a high-level security meeting in the national capital with top government officials including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and NSA Ajit Doval. He was accompanied by Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan and the chiefs of the three services: General Upendra Dwivedi, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi and Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh. Apart from these, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Intelligence Bureau (IB) Director Tapan Deka and RAW chief Ravi Sinha also attended the top-level meeting.

This meeting took place after the ceasefire violation by Pakistan on May 10 and the subsequent talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan. There has been no credible report suggesting that Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh was manhandled by any officer present at the meeting.

In conclusion, the claim that Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh was manhandled during a meeting held regarding the alleged failure of Operation Sindoor is false. Contrary to this claim, Operation Sindoor was a successful military operation that dismantled nine terror hubs. Around 100 terrorists were killed in this operation. Among the casualties were high-value targets, including the brother of Masood Azhar. Following Operation Sindoor, a meeting took place on May 12 between Prime Minister Modi and top government officials, where the outcomes of the operation were evaluated, and the readiness of the armed forces to respond to any further aggression was ensured.
