In the aftermath of reports that Indian and Chinese forces clashed at the Arunachal Pradesh mountain border on December 9, a Twitter user going by the name Dan T129 claimed in a tweet that China killed over 300 Indian troops during the clash. Lets verify the claim.

Fact Check

In our research, we found that, according to a statement made in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Indian Army’s prompt action prevented Chinese PLA forces from entering Indian territory during the December 9 skirmish in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang sector.

The confrontation resulted in a physical brawl in which the Indian army blocked the PLA from entering our country and forced them to return to their stations. He also mentioned that there were no serious casualties or deaths in the Indian army.

Hence, the claim that China killed 300 Indian soldiers holds no validation and not supported by evidence.

Next, using a reverse image search, we found that the images shared by the Twitter user claiming to be from a recent clash at the Arunachal border are old images. Last year, the same images went viral on social media, alleging to be from the clash between India and China in the Galwan valley.

Furthermore, we went through Dan T129’s account and discovered that this account belongs to someone who is pro-Pakistan and Palestine. Many tweets from Pakistani and Palestinian Twitter handles were shared on his feed. The account has also endorsed the tweets of alleged fact checker Mohammed Zubair, who specializes in spreading anti-India propaganda. This account deliberately disseminated fake information in order to tarnish the reputation of the Indian army.
