A clip of Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh is going viral, in which he expresses frustration and asserts that 2025 could have been a glorious year for the Indian Air Force if they had been allowed to operate without interference or external pressure. He adds that the loss of Indian jets to Pakistan could have been avoided under such circumstances.

The clip was first shared by Pakistan origin handle, Zard si Gana, who wrote, “Indian Air Force Chief admits that last year 2025 could’ve been far more glorious if we’d operated without interference. We wouldn’t have lost jets to Pakistan. After Muslim NATO talks between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, India is starting to feel the heat.” (Archived link)

Taimur Malik asserted, “IAF Chief has officially admitted India’s defeat in front of the world: “2025 could have been much more glorious, if we had been allowed to operate without any interference or pressure. We would not have lost our jets against Pakistan, if that had been the case. Still, Pakistan completely owned the skies. Every Indian move was anticipated & crushed. Every jet, including the vaunted backbone of the IAF, the Rafale was destroyed. Hats off to FM Asim Munir, the Pakistan Army & the PAF for not just defending Pakistan, but for exposing India’s arrogance & forcing them to publicly admit defeat.” (Archived link)

Another Pakistan origin handle Schlangenjäger stated, “2025 could have been much more glorious, if we had been allowed to operate without any interference or pressure. We would not have lost our jets against Pakistan, if that had been the case. — IAF Chief.” (Archived link)

Fact Check

In our fact-check research, we first conducted a keyword search but did not find any media report of Air Chief Marshal AP Singh admitting to losing jets against Pakistan in the May 2025 conflict due to interference or external pressure.

Next, we took keyframes from the viral video and ran a reverse image search. During this, we found the original clip of Air Chief Marshal AP Singh posted on ANI, which is from the 22nd Subroto Mukherjee International Seminar held in New Delhi on January 21, 2026. In this event, the Air Chief Marshal had delivered an inaugural speech.

ANI had posted three different clips of his speech. After reviewing these clips, it was confirmed that the viral clip had been digitally manipulated, and Air Chief Marshal AP Singh has not made any such statements.

In one of the clips, he praised the legacy of Subroto Mukherjee, the first Chief of the Air Staff of the Indian Air Force (IAF) after India’s independence, for building a strong foundation and noted that the IAF today benefits from better resources and continuous growth.

In the remaining two clips, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh emphasized the importance of strong military power and the willingness to use it to advance the nation’s strength. He stated that without national strength, even economically strong countries can be subjugated, citing the recent vulnerabilities of Venezuela and Iran as examples. He also emphasized the importance of the Air Force in modern warfare and urged the Indian Air Force to be prepared for future challenges. Nowhere in the clips did he make the viral statement about India losing jets to Pakistan during the 2025 conflict.

In conclusion, a clip of Air Chief Marshal AP Singh admitting to losing a jet in the May 2025 war against Pakistan has been digitally altered. In the original speech, he praised Subroto Mukherjee’s legacy, highlighted the IAF’s improved resources, and stressed the need for strong military preparedness.
