The 18th Lok Sabha elections have concluded, with the BJP emerging as the largest party and the National Democratic Alliance poised to form the government for a third consecutive term. Despite the widespread dissemination of misleading narratives by Congress leaders, Narendra Modi is set to become Prime Minister for the third time. On this note, Congress leaders shared images alleging that the Modi government, in retaliation against the people of Maharashtra and Gujarat for their overwhelming support for the BJP, has removed the statues of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Gandhi, and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar from the front of the Parliament House.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh tweeted, ‘Statues of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Gandhi, and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar have just been removed from their places of prominence in front of the Parliament House. This is atrocious.’

Congress leader Pawan Khera tweeted, ‘When Ayodhya defeated BJP, these people started abusing the Ram devotees. When Maharashtra voters did not vote for BJP, the statues of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Baba Saheb Ambedkar were removed from their original place in Parliament. When they did not get 26/26 seats in Gujarat, they removed the statue of Mahatma Gandhi from its original place in Parliament. Just think, if we had given them 400 seats, would they have spared the Constitution?’

Shabnam Hashmi wrote, ‘The Prime Minister has not even taken oath yet and already the statues of Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi and Shivaji Maharaj have been removed from the Parliament premises. Where will it go, where will it be installed? Will anyone answer this? Whose statues are going to replace these statues? Of the non-biological incarnation? What kind of a show is this? Every day, for the last ten years, people are entangled in a new game. And @NitishKumar @ncbn @RLDparty are you helping them to form the government?’

Congress Kerala tweeted, ‘BJP is taking revenge of their defeat in Maharashtra by shifting the Shivaji statue out of parliament. They’re abusing Ram devotees in Ayodhya because they couldn’t win any seat around the Ram temple. NDA’s full form now is Naidu/Nitish-Dependent Alliance!’

Our investigation started with an examination of relevant news materials on the subject. In our search, we encountered an article published by the Deccan Herald on June 6, 2024. The Deccan Herald reported, “Following an uproar over the removal of the iconic statues of Mahatma Gandhi, BR Ambedkar, and Chhatrapati Shivaji as part of a landscaping exercise, the Lok Sabha Secretariat clarified that the statues were ‘respectfully’ relocated to be installed in a Prerana Sthal within the Parliament House Complex.”
The article further elaborated that the Lok Sabha Secretariat issued a statement revealing that, following the construction of the new Parliament Building, an action plan was devised for the landscaping and beautification of the Parliament Complex to bestow it with “high dignity and decorum.”
The Deccan Herald further cited a press release from the Lok Sabha Secretariat, which stated, “In the Parliament Complex, statues of eminent leaders and freedom fighters were positioned at various locations. These leaders and freedom fighters played pivotal roles in our nation’s independence. However, due to their dispersed locations, visitors faced difficulties in viewing these statues conveniently. Consequently, all these statues are being respectfully relocated to a grand Prerana Sthal within the Parliament House Complex. This Prerana Sthal will also feature arrangements utilizing modern technology to provide visitors with detailed information about the lives and contributions of these great freedom fighters, thereby inspiring them through their legacies and thoughts.”
Additionally, All India Radio News tweeted on the matter: “The Lok Sabha Secretariat is establishing the PreranaSthal within the Parliament House Complex, where all the statues of the nation’s great leaders and freedom fighters are being installed.”

Furthermore, the Financial Express reported that the Prerana Sthal will incorporate modern technology to offer detailed information about the lives and contributions of our esteemed freedom fighters, providing visitors with a deeper understanding and appreciation of their legacy. This space will also serve as a place for visitors to pay their respects to these revered leaders. It is important to note that the Parliament House Complex is under the jurisdiction of the Honourable Speaker of the Lok Sabha. Statues have been relocated within the Complex in the past with the Speaker’s permission. No statue of any great leader has been removed from the Complex; rather, they are being systematically and respectfully reinstalled within the Parliament House Complex.
In conclusion, the statues of prominent figures such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Gandhi, and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar have not been removed from the Parliament House but have been relocated within the Prerana Sthal inside the Parliament Complex. Congress leaders are spreading false information to construct a narrative against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
