A photograph depicting a school scene with a few girls seated on a muddy and boggy ground, supposedly portraying the aftermath of rainfall, has gained traction on social media. The image was shared not only by a Congress leader but also by numerous other social media users. Alongside the picture, some social media users criticized Hinduism and India, suggesting that despite the presence of numerous gods in the country, there is a lack of basic facilities in schools.
Congress leader CP Rai wrote on X, ‘This is the school of a country whose number of millionaires is increasing rapidly? Which is an economy worth who knows how many trillions.‘

Fact Check
After conducting a reverse image search on the viral photograph, we discovered that it was originally uploaded on the Pakistan online media portal, Siasat Pakistan Discussion, on June 10, 2015. The image was accompanied by a caption indicating it depicted the condition of a girls’ primary school in Pakistan, Punjab.
Additionally, a tweet from the same date in 2015 was found, where a Twitter user sarcastically tagged the image to Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, a former federal minister of Pakistan. The tweet humorously commented on the state of education with a reference to the long rule of Mian Sahib in Punjab, stating, ‘Girls are getting education sitting on metro bus.’

Furthermore, the image resurfaced in 2017 when it was again shared on Twitter by Imran Lashari, a resident of Pakistan. In his post, Lashari questioned the government’s role, specifically mentioning a girls’ primary school in Wara Sehraan, Tehsil Karor, District Layyah, South Punjab.

In conclusion, the image shared by the Congress leader and other social media users is from Pakistan and not from India. It has been circulating on the internet since its initial upload on June 10, 2015.
