Recently, Al Jazeera, a Qatar government-funded media outlet, known for their anti-India instances, posted a lengthy thread on the social media platform Instagram. Using graphic generated visuals, Al Jazeera talked about a few historical events. They claimed that these incidences led to atrocities that were solely borne by the Muslim community, and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made matters worse for them over the years.
Furthermore, let us talk the claims made by Al Jazeera in their Instagram thread to propagate their propaganda.
2. Further, as has always been the case when lamenting the horrors of 2002, the plight of Hindus has been ignored over the years, adhering to years of propaganda Al Jazeera went on to claim that in the Godhra Carnage in 2002, which killed 59 Hindu karsevaks returning from Ayodhya, the blame was placed on the Muslim community.
3. Not only that, they claimed that the Citizenship Amendment Bill was enacted with the objective of discriminating against Muslims.
4. They did not stop there in spreading their one-sided anti-India and anti-Hindu narrative. They further claimed that the Delhi riots well-planned anti-Muslim riots in which Hindu mobs attacked over 200 people.
5. Second lastly, The Kashmir Files, a film that documented the plight of Kashmiri Hindus was labelled a propaganda film. Al Jazeera, which is thriving on its anti-India narrative tried to convey that TKF was made with a motive to demonize Muslims.
Lets fact check these claims which is made with a purpose to show India and the Hindu community in a bad light.

We began our investigation by conducting a keyword search for “Supreme Court’s Ramjanmbhoomi.” We discovered a Business Standard report using a keyword search. According to the report, the Supreme Court ended hearings in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute in Ayodhya on October 16, 2019, and reserved its judgement, which was issued on November 9.
In the verdict passed, the Supreme Court granted the Ram Janmabhoomi trust ownership of the disputed 2.77-acre site in Ayodhya. Furthermore, the court directed that the Muslims be provided an alternate plot of land for the construction of a mosque.
Moreover, let us now look at the reasoning behind the Supreme Court’s decision in favour of Hindus. We discovered a 1045-page judgement report on the sci.gov.in website using the same keyword search. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) research confirmed the existence of a prior underground construction dating back to the 12th century. The construction of the structure which was found below, indicated it to be of Hindu religious origin.
Furthermore, the mosque’s walls were built on top of an existing structure. The pre-existing structure’s construction had Hindu religious symbols. The pillars utilized in the mosque’s construction were black Kasauti stone pillars with a lotus emblem on them. The foundation on which the mosque was built dates back to the 12th century. Also, there was a four-century gap between the pre-existing construction and the mosque. All these evidence indicated towards the existence of temple.
Hence, the claim that the Hindu nationalists destroyed the Babri mosque is misleading. They just regained their right to the property once owned for the temple of Lord Shri Ram. They wanted to put a stop to the injustice that had been done to Hindus since the 16th century, when Shri Ram’s temple was demolished and a mosque was constructed on its site.
2. Muslims were responsible for Godhra Train Carnage
The Godhra Kand killed 59 Hindu karsevaks on their way back from Ayodhya. The Muslim mob set fire to the Sabarmati express in order to kill the karsevaks. After 9 years, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) convicted 31 persons in the Godhra train burning in 2011. The 31 Muslims were convicted under provisions of the Indian Penal Code dealing with criminal conspiracy, murder, and attempted murder.
Based on the evidence, it was discovered during the Godhra Kand inquiry that the plan was formed earlier by Nannumiya, Maulvi Umarji, Rajak Kurkur, Salim alias Salimyusuf Sattar Jarda, and Salim Panwala. In his confession, Nannumiya stated that during his excursions to Godhra, he frequently visited Aman Guest House. There he and the other conspirators agreed to carry out the fire attack on the Sabarmati Express.
Rajak Kurkur, Salim alias Salimyusuf Sattar jarda, Jabir Behra, Salim Panwala, and Shaukat Lalu agreed to get petrol on the night of February 26, 2002. They went to the gas station at 9.30 p.m. and purchased 20 litres of petrol. Later, they encountered Bilal Haji and Faruk Bhana. They informed them that they had met Maulvi Husain Haji Ibrahim Umarji, who had instructed them to set fire to coach No.6 of the Sabarmati Express train. Next morning, as per the plan the coach No. 6 was set on fire taking lives of 59 Hindu passengers.
As a result, Al Jazeera’s claim that Muslims were blamed is utterly false and misleading. Because during the investigation the Muslims involved in carrying out such heinous act, confessed themselves.
3. Citizenship Amendment Act bill (CAA) was not anti-Muslim
The Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 (CAA) was passed by the Parliament of India on 11 December 2019. This bill led to the nationwide protest.
The citizenship amendment bill was mainly designed to grant Indian nationality to minorities. Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, Jains, Parsis and Sikhs who were persecuted and fled the Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan before 2015.
The government clarified that the Muslims will continue to get Indian citizenship if they fulfil eligibility conditions. And the reason why Muslims are not included in this bill is as they do not face religious persecution in these Islamic countries.
4. 2020 Delhi riot was not anti-Muslim
According to the DNA report, an ex-AAP councillor Tahir Hussain has confessed to his participation in the northeast Delhi rioting against the CAA that occurred in February.
Tahir Hussain admitted that he “wanted to teach Hindus a lesson” using his political position and money. He admitted to authorities that he was the mastermind behind the riot which took place in North-East Delhi. He received backing from Khalid Saifi, former JNU student and terrorist sympathizer Umar Khalid, Ishrat Jahan, and Danish, a member of the terror organisation Popular Front of India (PFI)
During an investigation of the building where Tahir Hussain was living, a considerable amount of stones, bricks, glass, fuel bottles, catapults and other items were discovered on the third level. Moreover, the deep rooted conspiracy to cause violence in the North-East Delhi was planned over a WhatsApp.
Violence-related WhatsApp groups were formed. “Delhi protest support group” was one such WhatsApp group. The accused’s strategy was to obstruct the route and planned attack on police officials. Umar Khalid and Khalid Saifi were the part of this WhatsApp group. The group chat of DPSG were collected as the evidence by the Delhi police.
The Delhi riots was a well-planned conspiracy to provoke violence against the Hindu community, with prominent conspirators like Tahir Hussain, Umar Khalid, and Khalid Saifi being involved in it. However, the propagandists have often tried to paint the whole scenario as an anti-Muslim.
5. The Kashmir Files is not a propaganda
The Kashmir Files film, directed by Vivek Aghnihotri and released in 2022, showed the atrocities of 1990, when Kashmiri Hindus genocide took place and they were uprooted from the valley of Kashmir by Islamists who aimed to merge Kashmir with Pakistan.
The film was inspired by true-life gruesome episodes that occurred in 1990. As shown in the movie, BK Ganjoo was a Kashmiri Pandit who hid in a rice bin but was killed by militants after his Muslim neighbours revealed his whereabouts.
Another character Sharda Pandit, played by Bhasha Sumbli, is based on a real life woman Girija Tickoo. The film The Kashmir Files depicts an event in which Sharda Pandit, daughter in law of Pushkar Nath Pandit, is forced to eat rice soaked in her husband’s blood. Later, she is raped by militants and is chopped alive with a carpenter saw.
In real life, Girija, a Kashmiri Pandit teacher at a government school in Kupwara district, was walking out of the school after collecting her salary when she was ambushed by gunmen who abducted her and took her to an unknown location where she was gang raped. The militants eventually cut her into two pieces with a carpenter saw.
Furthermore, as depicted in the movie, the terrorist Farooq Malik Bitta, who became known as the “Butcher of Pandits” in the Valley, is based on real life terrorist, Bitta Karate. In 1991, he admitted in the interview to killing roughly 20 Kashmiri Hindus and that if ordered, he would have killed his own brother or mother. He obtained his training in Pakistan, and his first victim was Satish Tickoo, a Kashmiri Hindu
The Kashmir Files is not simply a movie, but a reality that propagandists have frequently attempted to conceal, so that the cold-blooded face of Islamists who committed genocide against Kashmiri Hindus stays buried behind the lies and propaganda.
Hence, considering the above mentioned facts, the claims made by Al Jazeera is misleading. Moreover, that Instagram thread was merely a propaganda to white wash the misdeeds of Islamists.
