The BJP on Sunday won Madhya Pradesh with a huge majority but did not announce who will lead the state to ensure victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The possible names being tossed for the post of CM include Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Kailash Vijayvargiya and Jyotiraditya Scindia. Shivraj Singh Chouhan is the longest serving Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh till date. Meanwhile, a video of Shivraj Chouhan criticizing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is going viral on social media.
An account @/Kamleshpatel2516 on the Instagram platform had shared a video two weeks ago. In the video, Chouhan can be heard saying, “Now BJP will not make me the Chief Minister, so vote wherever you feel, thinking about the good and the bad. My tenure is over now.” The post has garnered 40.9k likes and 33.4k shares so far. Here is the archived link of the post.

Fact Check
During our fact-checking, after reviewing the video we noticed a discrepancy between the audio and lip sync. This shocking detail made us doubt the authenticity of the video. Apart from this, it is impossible for Shivraj Chauhan to make such a statement against his party just before the assembly elections.
So, first we conducted a relevant keyword searches on Google but did not find any media report which supports the shocking viral claim.
Furthermore, in the top left corner of the video, we saw the ANI logo. Next, we checked the YouTube Shorts section of ANI’s channel to find the original video. Scrolling through the shorts section, we found that the video was shared on June 27, 2023 and is not from recent. The caption of the video reads, “PM Modi’s visit is rising fortune of Madhya Pradesh: CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.”
We found that in the original video (archived link of the video), Shivraj Singh expresses gratitude for Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Madhya Pradesh and says it will bring good fortune to the state. On June 27, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had flagged off five new Vande Bharat Express trains from Kamlapati Railway Station in Bhopal. In this video, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan is welcoming Prime Minister Modi and saying, “Madhya Pradesh is fortunate that the Honorable Prime Minister is coming. The state is so grateful that they are gifting a new Vande Bharat to the state. His arrival is the rise of good fortune of Madhya Pradesh. A very warm welcome, salutation and congratulation to him on this land of the state!”
So, to sum up, in the original video, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh is welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi who came to flag off five new Vande Bharat Express trains in Bhopal.
