Viral image of PM Modi traveling in taxi is edited
Recently, on February 11, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi co-chaired the AI Summit in Paris alongside French President Emmanuel Macron. During this summit, global leaders discussed the future of AI. Meanwhile, a picture of PM Modi has gone viral on social media, showing him stepping out of a car. In the image, the plate on the car behind reads, “La prima App in Italia per i Taxi.”
With this picture, a claim is being made that PM Modi traveled in a taxi in France. A user named Shekhar Khare posted the image, saying, “France, please don’t insult our Vishwaguru like this. He shouldn’t have been taken in a taxi.” (Archived link)

In our investigation, we performed a reverse image search on this viral picture. During this process, we found an ANI post from October 30, 2021, featuring the same image.
The post stated that PM Modi had met Pope Francis in the Vatican. This meeting was originally scheduled for only 20 minutes but lasted for an hour. During the discussion, PM Modi and Pope Francis talked about a wide range of issues, including climate change and poverty eradication.
We found that the same image was used in this post. However, in the original picture, there was no taxi sign on the car. This clearly proves that the image is neither from the recent AI Summit nor authentic. The picture has been edited to make the car appear as a taxi.
After this, we found another post from ANI that included a video of this meeting. In the video, PM Modi can be seen stepping out of the car, and there is no Italian taxi plate on the car behind him.
In conclusion, the viral image showing PM Modi stepping out of a car has been edited to add the taxi sign. This picture is old, from his Vatican visit when he met Pope Francis. The image has been altered and is now being shared with a false claim that PM Modi had to travel in a taxi in France.
