Our team conducted research to check the authenticity of the claim made by Surendra Rajput. By conducting keyword search using “PM Modi’s interview with Arnab Goswami” we discovered 1 hour 37 minutes long video released by Times Now. In 2014, the then CM of Gujarat Narendra Modi was interviewed by Arnab Goswami, the then editor in chief and News anchor of Times Now.
From 19 minutes on, with regard to the BJP’s manifesto, which declares that persecuted Hindus should continue to have a natural home in India and be invited to seek refugee here, Arnab Goswami questioned why only persecuted Hindus were included in the manifesto and not also persecuted Buddhists, Sikhs, Jains, Muslims, or Christians. In response, PM Modi stated that, in accordance with the Supreme Court’s judgement, Hinduism is not a religion but a way of life. He continued by saying that we work in accordance with the Supreme Court’s judgement, and that according to that judgement, Hinduism is a way of life. In that, neither a Sikh nor a Buddhist is opposed. Hindus are not mentioned in manifesto as a religion but as a way of life.
As claimed by Surendra Rajput, PM Modi stated in an interview with Arnab Goswami that Hinduism is not a religion but a way of life in accordance with the Supreme Court’s judgement. The claim made by Surendra Rajput is thus false.
