Debunking False Rumors About Dhirendra Shastri Sister’s Alleged Marriage to a Muslim Man

Kavita Yadav, a habitual fake news peddler, claimed in her tweet (archived link) on December 21 that Dhirendra Shastri’s sister is married to a Muslim man. The tweet also included a video. This video is from Rajat Sharma’s show “Aap Ki Adalat”. In the video clip, journalist Rajat asks Dhirendra Shastri, “I have also heard that you have got your sister married to a Muslim by taking money?” In response, Dhirendra Shastri says, “He is our friend even today. We met him only five days ago.” The claim was also endorsed by a Hinduphobe handle, Paro Nidhi Rao.

So this claim was made in a way to label him a hypocrite that he advises Hindu girls to stay away from Muslim men, but he has got his own sister married to a Muslim man. Fact Check

As the video clip in the claim is from the show “Aap Ki Adalat”, we searched with keywords “Aap Ki Adalat Mein Bageshwar Baba” on YouTube. On searching through keyword search, we found an interview of Pandit Dhirendra on India TV’s YouTube channel. The clip included in the claim is taken from the same interview.

In this interview video at 33:42 minutes, Rajat Sharma asks, “Do you any problem with Muslims?” Dhirendra Shastri responds by saying “Absolutely not, I have a friends (Muslims) too.” Then Rajat asks, “I have also heard that you got your sister married by taking money from a Muslim man.” To this Dhirendra says, “He is our friend even today, we met him just five days ago. He also drank tea. And we have about 500-600 Muslim families who are connected by spirit.” Nowhere, he mentioned that his sister got married to a Muslim man.

Here it is to be noted that Rajat was asking about the financial help that Dhirendra received from a Muslim man during his sister’s marriage. There are many media reports about Dhirendra’s friend Sheikh Mubarak who helped him financially during the marriage of his sister Rita Garg. As per Zee News report Sheikh Mubarak and Dhirendra are childhood friends. According to Dhirendra Shastri, there was an argument between the two in the very first meeting. But after that both became good friends. When Rita was getting married, Dhirendra did not have money, he even tried to take a loan but did not get the loan. At that time he worked as a priest and performed rituals and prayers. When he talked to Sheikh Mubarak on this subject and told him the whole problem, Sheikh Mubarak gave him 20 thousand rupees without even thinking and asking. Apart from this, he also delivered all the wedding stuff to his house without asking.

Moreover, Sheikh Mubarak in a conversation with MP Tak, talked about the financial challenges Dhirendra faced during his sister’s wedding. Sheikh Mubarak revealed that Pandit Dhirendra Shastri was grappling with financial difficulties at the time of the marriage, and he had extended support by providing around twenty thousand rupees.

Moreover, the fact-checking team at Aaj Tak reached out to Sheikh Mubarak, who dismissed the rumor of Dhirendra Shastri sister getting married to a Muslim man. Sheikh told Aaj Tak, “Rita used to tie Rakhi to both Dhirendra and me. Her marriage took place in Devra village of Chhatarpur, and her husband Kamlesh Chauraha is a Brahmin.”

Conclusion: The claim that Dhirendra Shastri’s sister is married to a Muslim man is false. His sister is married to a Hindu man named Kamlesh Chauraha.
