Debunking Congress and Reuters Misinformation: Adani and Ambani Not invited to G20 Summit Special Dinner – No Businessmen on Guest List

A claim is viral on social media alleging that Adani and Ambani were extended invitations to a special G20 dinner, while the opposition leader Kharge Ji was not invited. Congress party member John Samuel shared a tweet and wrote, In G20 dinner, Adani and Ambani invited but not the opposition leader Kharge Ji. John claimed that Modi works for corporates only. He further wrote that Modi is not for the common people that’s why he didn’t invite the people’s representative Kharge Ji.

Another Congress supporter shared a tweet and wrote, Adani & Ambani are invited to G20 dinner but not Kharge Ji. Keep showing your true colors Modi Ji. The public won’t forget this blatant disregard for democracy.

After this, we came across a Reuters report which claims India’s richest businessmen, led by rivals Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani, will join G20 leaders at a dinner in the capital on Saturday.

During our research, we conducted a keyword analysis using the question, “Are Ambani and Adani invited to the G20 summit special dinner?” In the course of our investigation, we stumbled upon a revealing report by Hindustan Times, dated September 9, 2023. According to this report, media outlets, relying on an article by Reuters, made assertions that prominent business magnates including Ambani and Adani were on the guest list for the G20 India Special Dinner being hosted at Bharat Mandapam on 9th Sep.

However, it is vital to note that this claim was swiftly debunked. The Press Information Bureau’s fact-checking unit clarified in a social media post on Friday that, in fact, no business leaders had received invitations to the dinner.
