Mukesh Khatik’s murder was a result of a personal feud, not caste-based violence
It is being claimed that Mukesh Khatik, a former village head belonging to the Dalit community in Ahmedgarh, Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, was murdered by upper-caste members on November 3, 2025.
The handle Dr. Udit Raj wrote, “Former village head Mukesh Khatik, who belonged to the Dalit community, village – Baad, police station – Ahmedgarh, Bulandshahr, UP. On the night of 3 November 2025, he was irrigating his field when he was murdered by dominant castes. A few months earlier, his eldest son had been murdered. Upper castes have been wreaking havoc on Dalits in UP. During the rally in Lucknow on 9 October, Mayawati ji had perhaps expressed thanks to the Yogi government regarding these very issues. I hope for immediate action.“
BSP Uttar Pressure stated, “Former Chief Mukesh Khatik, who belonged to the Dalit community, village – Baad, police station – Ahmadgarh, Bulandshahr, UP. On the night of 3 November 2025, he was irrigating his field when he was murdered by dominant castes. A few months earlier, his elder son had been murdered. In our fact-checking, we performed a keyword search and found a report by Amar Ujala dated November 9, 2025. According to the report, Mukesh Khatik was murdered by his friends due to a personal feud. The accused have been identified as Kumman, a resident of Salabad village, and Puran Singh alias Kallan Singh, a resident of Pokhargarhi.
Accused Kumman confessed that he often drank alcohol with Mukesh. A few days ago, while drinking with Mukesh, he began abusing him and tearing his clothes. This enraged Kumman, who decided to kill Mukesh. On November 3, 2025, Kumman, along with Puran Singh and two other friends, Prem Singh and Narendra, were drinking alcohol at Mukesh’s tube well. In an inebriated state, Mukesh again began abusing them, which enraged them. Infuriated, the four strangled Mukesh to death and hung his body from a tree to make it look like a suicide.
The report also said that the accused, Kumman, has a long criminal history, with 15 cases registered against him under various sections including robbery, attempt to murder, assault and the Gangster Act.
We also came across a statement from the Bulandshahr police, which stated that accused Kumman and Mukesh knew each other. According to the police, Kumman and Puran Singh have been arrested. The other two accused, Prem Singh and Narendra, are absconding. Kumman, along with the other three accused, committed the murder to avenge the insult inflicted by Mukesh. Reportedly, under the influence of alcohol, Mukesh abused Kumman and tore his clothes, forcing him to walk home naked. Enraged, Kumman decided that if Mukesh ever abused him again while drinking, he would kill him.
We also contacted Bijendra Singh, the former village head of Salabad village in the Chhatari police station area of Bulandshahr. He said that Mukesh and Kumman were acquaintances and often hung out together. They belong to the same caste, with Kumman also being a Khatik.
We then spoke with Balram Singh, the former village head of Pokhargarhi village, located in the Jawan police station area of Aligarh. He said he was unaware of the murder, although the accused, Puran Singh, a residence of his village, belongs to the Aheriya caste.
In conclusion, Mukesh Khatik, a Dalit, was not murdered because of his caste. He was murdered by his friend Kumman, who also belonged to the same caste, due to a personal feud.
