A clip showing a nighttime drone strike is being shared with the claim that Iran attacked a residential building or hotel in Manama, Bahrain.

Sharing the clip, the handle Kavish Aziz wrote, “Iran directly hits hotel housing US diplomats in Bahrain.” (Archived link)

Umashankar Sigh asserted, “Attack on the building like this! Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior says that in the Iranian attack targeting a residential building in Manama, one person was killed and several others were injured.” (Archived link)

Fact Check

During our fact-check, we extracted several keyframes from the video and conducted a reverse image search. Through reverse search, we found the same footage posted on YouTube Shorts by Kawtah News on January 10, 2026. According to the video’s description, the footage shows a Russian drone striking a residential building in Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, on January 9, 2026.

According to media reports, around January 8–9, 2026, Russia carried out drone attacks in Kyiv, killing four civilians, injuring at least 19 others, and causing severe damage to residential buildings and infrastructure in Ukraine. The viral footage is from the same attack.

The footage of the drone strike predates the Iran- Bahrain tension, which were triggered in late February 2026 after the United States and Israel carried out strikes inside Iran. In conclusion, the clip claiming to show Iranian drone strikes in Manama, Bahrain, is misleading. The clip has been available on the internet since January 10 and actually shows a Russian drone attack on a residential building in Kyiv, Ukraine.
