In our fact-check investigation, we conducted keyword research. During this, we found the same video posted on India Today’s YouTube page. The viral clip is taken from the press conference of Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi which was held on January 13, 2026.
Upon reviewing the complete video, we found that the viral clip has been digitally manipulated. The actual question, asked by the journalist appears at the timestamp of 1:06:35 minutes, and was not related to Operation Sindoor. Additionally, the journalist is Zee News reporter Anuvesh Rath, not Anurag Sharma; his name was altered using AI.
In the actual interview, Anuvesh Rath’s question was about the procurement of military equipment. At the time stamp of 1:11:20, the COAS responded, explaining the procurement and assembly process. Nowhere in his response did he mention about Operation Sindoor or Trump’s intervention.
In conclusion, the clip is digitally altered. The journalist in the footage is Zee News reporter Anuvesh Rath, not Anurag Sharma, and his name was altered using AI. In the original video, Rath’s question was related to the procurement of military equipment, and the COAS responded by explaining the procurement and assembly process.
