The ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran continues to escalate, and amid the tensions, social media is flooded with misinformation in the form of videos and images. Two such videos have recently gone viral, showing soldiers marching and running. These clips are being circulated with claims that Israeli soldiers are fleeing in fear following Iranian retaliation. The intent behind sharing these videos appears to be to portray Iran as having the upper hand in the conflict.
Johnny Lever Parody claimed, ‘Look at the Israeli soldiers running away crying from Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport.’
Saif INC wrote, ‘Israeli fighter jet pilots are leaving their jobs and running away. Netanyahu has chosen death for us. He himself is absconding. Why did we die?’
Tanvir Rangrez stated, ‘This could lead to rebellion in the Israeli army. Israeli pilots are fleeing airports and leaving the service. Iran gave a befitting reply. Israeli pilots fleeing with their tails between their legs. It would have been better to drop a bomb on Netanyahu instead of running away.’
Mr. Cool, Ahmet Tanman, Imran Noorani, Saba Khan, Dr Fazila, and Islam Mansuri shared a similar claim.

We began our verification by performing a reverse image search on the first viral video, which shows soldiers marching aggressively. Our investigation led us to a post by Haaretz journalist Bar Peleg on X shared on November 6, 2024. The post stated, ‘Border Police officers in Ayalon South move in a large group to put out fires with fire extinguishers, with hundreds of protesters following them. One protester confronted an officer who was wearing a face covering in violation of protest procedures.’
Further confirmation came from a Haaretz article published the same day, reporting that around 40 people were arrested in Tel Aviv during protests against the Prime Minister’s decision to dismiss Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. Protesters had blocked the Ayalon highway, which police later cleared to reopen traffic.
Next, we conducted a reverse image search on the second viral video showing soldiers running. The video was originally shared by Sabah Media Agency on October 26, 2024, with the caption,’Israeli soldiers in Lebanon held hands and cried as they fled a raid by Hezbollah armed forces.’
Therefore, both videos are from late 2024 and have no connection to the ongoing 2025 conflict between Israel and Iran. They are being misrepresented on social media to falsely suggest that Israeli soldiers are fleeing due to Iran’s retaliation.
Claim | Israeli soldiers are fleeing in fear following Iran’s retaliation. |

Fact Check | One video, showing soldiers marching aggressively, is from November 2024. The other, depicting soldiers running, also dates back to the same period. Both videos are unrelated to the current conflict between Israel and Iran. |
