The train assault video is not linked to religion. The incident stemmed from allegations of inappropriate behavior
A 53-second video clip showing a Muslim man being thrashed on a train is going viral on social media. The video is being claimed to be from Gujarat, where an elderly Muslim man was attacked for reciting the holy Quran.
Sharing the video, the handle Richard The One wrote, “Cowards always come in groups. This is cowardness and insecurity at its peak in Almost all over India against Muslims and Christians minority.” (Archived link)
Another handle Dr. Maira Asserted, “A Muslim man is being beaten for reciting The Quran on a train in Gujarat. Violence against anyone for practicing their faith is unacceptable. No one should face hate or fear for reciting their holy book. Stand for humanity, dignity, and peace.” (Archived link)
The video was also shared by many other handles such as GPX (Archived link), The Muslim (Archived link), Karishma Aziz (Archived link), Mohammed Naseeruddin (Archived link), and Mumtaz Patel (Archived link).

During our fact-check research, we extracted keyframes from the video and conducted a reverse image search. Through this process, we found the same video posted on the Aadhan Hindi YouTube channel on March 7, 2025. The video is titled ‘Beating of Maulana in a Train Molestation Case.’
The same video was also shared by the Instagram page NBH 24 Official. In the video, the people assaulting the maulana can clearly be heard talking about calling the police, saying that the maulana had been inappropriately touching women on the train.
According to the caption of the post, the incident occurred on February 28, 2025, aboard the Gujarat Kina Express, where a Muslim cleric was caught molesting a woman. The cleric runs a madrasa in Gangapur, Rajasthan, and was traveling from Ankleshwar to Ahmedabad. He was arrested on the train for molesting a woman.
In conclusion, the video does not depict a Muslim man being attacked for reading the Quran on a train in Gujarat. The clip actually dates back to February 2025, and the assault stemmed from molestation of a woman by the cleric. The claim linking this incident to religious motives is misleading.
