Social media users are sharing a video of Muslims offering prayers, claiming that American Muslims are praying for the containment of the raging fires in Los Angeles. Some users also claim that when all efforts to control the wildfires failed, a Muslim stepped up and prayed to Allah for their containment.

Chandni claimed, ‘American Muslims raising the volume of the call to prayer. ‎Every possible technology seems helpless in front of the uncontrollable fire in American California. ‎So in such a situation, the Muslims living there are praying to Allah اللّٰہُ to control these fires.’

Abutalib Nisa, Md Isarail, Mubashshir Ahmed, and Arif Khan shared a similar claim.

Additionally, we found a video on Dailymotion with the caption, “In Pakistan, they tried to extinguish the fire with the ‘call to prayer’ (azan).”

Moreover, on June 5, 2022, The Times of India also shared the video, captioning it: “A video that is going viral on social media shows a group of Muslims in Karachi, Pakistan, holding the Azaan as a fire breaks out in a nearby supermarket…”

Hence, the claim that Muslims are praying to contain the wildfires in California is false. In reality, the video shows Muslims praying to contain a fire at a department store in Karachi, Pakistan.
